    Default Thungarian Stone?

What are your thoughts on the ones you can buy today, have any of you got one, are they any good? i have read they are not the same as the old ones, but they are quite cheap to buy.

i no a chap who as had vintage and new. he said he preferdthe 5x1 vintage and the edge was as good if not the same as coticule. i have a vintage 5x1 and a coticule and they are both simlar. he said the new one left a more crisp edge, thats all i no. if it was me i would prefer old for the vintage reason.

There are some recently cut stones that are sold as Thuringer hones but are not, being not even from the same state in Germany. Now, if you find one that actually is a Thuringer, from the mines in the German state of Thuringia, you should notice no difference from the old production stones. But, there is much said about all this in older threads, as this topic seems to come up once a month. You can do a search, which will turn up many hits
