Diff Shark blades?

Are these two blades the same? I have the one on the left in my 40's and get a great close shave --- pretty comfortable. I have the one on the left in a red tip SS, and its rough, burns, and just hasn't been as relaxing.

I have tried to use the same technique, same number of passes, same prep, same cream, etc. I am being particularly careful to not apply too much pressure with the red. My understanding is that a 40's is just below a red tip in aggressiveness, but the two seem worlds apart so far. I am trying to Isolate whether this is a blade issue or a razor issue.

If SS are different from SC, it ain't by much according to the consensus here and on other boards. I have 100 of the SC and found a stoopit score (7¢ US apiece, delivered) on 300 of the SS. Both flavors are satisfactory for my needs.

Dang. Gotta be a technique thing then. I know the red tip is more aggressive, but must be applying too much pressure. Thanks!

As someone else has said, try to deal with one variable at a time. Take the blade from one razor and try it in the other the next day and see if there is a difference. I use the Shark SS blades and find them fine and incredible value, and I'm using them in an English Aristocrat and an assortment of English flare tips.

Well I wanted to control for wear and dulling, so both blades were new --- the assumption was that they were the same blade, which may or may not be true (apparently). I'll give my 40's a go with the same blade that was put in the red (the one on the right) and see how it goes.

Experimentation! The best way to get meaningful results. Keep at it!
