    Default Best shave ever....

I don't write much here, mostly reading, but this I have to share.
Been DE shaving for a little over a year now, accumulating a lot of razors and soaps and whatnot. A little while ago I won 3'rd place in a PIF contest here and got a lot of stuff, a bunch of great DE's, brushes, shaving creams, soaps and so on....
Among all this stuff was a Schick injector from "luvmysuper", I used this and it made me think, why would anyone choose cartridges over this.... I mean, the shaves are great and beyond.... Got me buying a couple more (type E and type G1) Don't get me wrong, my main thing is DE's, but one week a month maybe is injector time....
But then, today.... I put a GEM blade in a GEM featherweight I got from "jakespoppy" and that has got to be the best shave ever.... Close, no nicks, cuts, nothing.... just smooth, with The Body shop "macca root" shaving cream and a Muhle pure badger brush.
So now I am a collector of not just DE's but also SE's and injectors... cool, and all the creams I got started my AD's with that too....
Thing is...the only thing I haven't tried now is a straight razor, and they sure look mighty fine.....
Thank you to Badger and blade and congratulations with the new looks.

Thanks for the post :) I've always found the look of those injectors interesting, but finding single edge/injector blades to me is quite difficult, not as many around as DE blades at least for my shopping.

Single edge blades always make me think of the hardware store too for some reason :S I must have an early repressed memory of buying them there or something. I have probably cut myself countless times with them while playing inventor in the garage as a child hah.

Congrats. I love my SE's and they are part of my regular rotation with the DE's.

Congrats, the Injectors and GEM's are great razors.

You, sir, need to get a straight. I was also enamoured with DE's, then got great shaves from SEs and Injectors, but eventually took the plunge into straights. The upkeep and maintanence is not that big of a deal, and if it is there are always the great Feather AC and Kai's.

Sounds like its time to PIF some of that gear to a noob. ;)

I've only been doing this for a couple of weeks, but tonight I took my time and went through every possible step --- prepped with a hot towel, good lather, multiple passes, squeezed the lather from the brush for my last pass... shaved with a 40's SS, shark blade, C.O. Bigelow cream, and then cold water rinsed (not delving into aftershaves yet). This was the best shave of my life!!! The hair on my neck grows in circles, so having a hard time getting a good cut there still --- not much irritation, but reliably 4-5 very small nicks. Gotta figure that out...

Injectors and SE's have earned their place in my den, together with my DE's and I will certainly look into getting a straight razor.
For SE and injector blades I have to shop online, but that's ok. I will start with a new Dovo or Thiers-issard straight, because I can get them
delivered honed here in Norway. Then I will start shaving balloons.... The guy who cuts my hair said that's what he had to do to get
his diploma back in the days.... but that's another story.
ps cold water rinsing is the best, especially after C.O. Bigelow/Proraso....
