Rating a Str8 set

Was thinking about ordering this set from vintage blades, and wanted the opinions of the pros. Also theres an option of ordering different strops. Which would you guys suggest for a starter?

Thanks for the time and effort.

The key there is "for those on a limited budget" so don't expect too much. The stuff is OK but there is certainly better out there. I would look at some of the guys at SRP who sell kits. I think you can do better but it will cost you more. It depends what your budget is.

Tony at SRP has a couple of straight kits. http://www.thewellshavedgentleman.com/

For strops there is also HandAmerican. http://www.handamerican.com/

Badger brushes from Tweeserman start at under $15

You should know in advance that straights are generally not shave sharp when new and must be honed.

Jim at Vintage, Tony at The Well Shaved Gentleman, and Keith at HandAmerican are all great vendors.

I've recently seen several shave ready straights on this forum and at SRP for $35 to $50.

Well I'm not looking for anything spectacular for starters just something I can shave my face with and keep the razor maintained, preferably not more than 200 american.

I've not been disappointed with a single razor I've bought on either forum. I cannot say the same for e-bay, however, and cannot recommend that unless you recognize it for the lottery it has become.

Although, on ebay, there is a person in Poland selling Wapienica razors (NOS) which are incredibly nice for the money. He also sells Wars shaving cream which is a favorite of mine.
