Cool Made a big score today

I went cruising today and stopped by the local flea market. Lo and behold one of the vendors had a toolbox full of old razors. He had like 20 gillettes, a few gems and a few other razors that I cant remember. He also had a couple vintage mugs and 4 vintage brushes.

I picked up 4 good looking gillettes (not sure how to identify them yet but im researching that) and an old red/butterscotch everready brush.

    Pics will soon follow.

Did you get a price for the entire toolbox?

That's what I'm saying. Bundling is a great way to get an instant collection. Looking forward to the pics.

He didn't want to do a whole bundle or I would have bought all of em there. As soon as I finish this first cleaning then I will have pictures.

Nice. The razors, as I see 'em:

    • Slim Adjustable
    • Gold ball-end Tech
    • '40s-style Super Speed
    • Nickel ball-end Tech

The Slim will definitely have a date code. The Techs probably will. The Super Speed might. If it doesn't it's from between 1948 to 1950, since it's got a notched center bar.

Thats what I was thinking they were. The Slim, Nickel ball tech, and the super speed all have date codes. Lets see if I have this right:
-Slim date code L3=3rd quarter 1966
-Super Speed date code X3= 3rd quarter 52
-Nickel ball-end Tech date code F4=4th quarter 1960

    Would this be correct?

Right on all counts. If the gold Tech isn't date coded, it's 1946-1950.

    Awesome!

Will post pics after the cleanings tomorrow. Going to work on restoring the Eveready in the very near future. TGN silvertip grade A or finest sounds pretty good.

Those are some mighty fine razors. I'm sure they will clean up nice.
