What's new

What are you listening to?

Picked up the Tull at a antique mall, not a scratch or even any dust on it.
The Jazz came from my Mothers collection.
Both very nice.

Stunning stuff. Billie Holiday, thin, raspy voice, lacking range. But a truly wonderful vocalist. Fantastic emotional impact. As Frank Sinatra said in 1958: "Lady Day is unquestionably the most important influence on American popular singing in the last twenty years."

Been years since i had a cassette deck in my system but acquired one this week and hooked it into one of my systems. Found a mix tape put together for a 1991 road trip to Moosewood in Ithica NY, among many great tunes this one popped up.

Neville Brothers, River of Life

Last night we got to see the Tesla Quartet, live, in a small auditorium.

The highlight was that the last piece was my (and SWMBO's) favourite piece of chamber music, Ravel's String quartet in F major.
Also, the tickets were only $5 each.
Hooray for having a nearby university with a decent music department. Lots of cheap or free live music.
