Default My 7 year old son shaved with me

Last weekend my wife and daughter went out of town and it was just me and my son for the weekend. Saturday we planned the day: Street hockey in the yard, Fantastic 4 movie, then dinner. After I showered and shaved, my son came in the bathroom and told me he wanted to shave. WELL, I had a blast with him! I took the blade out of the Futur, lathered him up with some TOBS Lavendar and handed him the razor. He was so cute. Deliberate strokes, rinsing the razor. I tapped some CK Euphoria on face and he was ready to go. Now, he wants his own razor. He wants to shave every day now. He was in Walgreens the other day and he was screaming for my wife to buy him a razor ( He saw the Mach 3's on the shelf). I had to explain to him that the razors he uses aren't sold in stores anymore, etc. I am actually looking forward to taking movies of this before he gets too big. He's innocent now. It may not be cute in another year. BTW, how do I go about getting a cheapy DE for him? If anybody has one, let me know. I'll gladly pay for some beat up thing anybody wants to get rid of.

My son also shaved with me at that age. I wish I had pictures.

I remember when I was a young lad I used to hang out with my grandpa when he would shave. I would get the shave with the blue disposable razors. I would leave the protective plastic cap on and mimic him. Now that I think about it... I was curropt from the get go. When I have a kid I am going to hand him a DE and get him started on the right foot. I am going to bring up this with my grandpa, "you know you curropted me as a child with your cheap disposible razors, all the mental anguish it caused me growing up I feel some sort of compensation is due for the stress."... LOL

Johnd, I never get tired of hearing stories like yours. Keep these experiences going between you and your son. You will always cherish the memories.

    Very cool story!

I think that I might have "shaved" with my Grandpa when I was around six....a popsicle stick and some canned goop maybe....

Hmm that must be what started my seemingly never ending quest for the perfect shave. Or it might be (to use my Father's words) the wire growing out of my face. lol

Videos or pictures would be priceless.
My 17 Y.O. son had me shave his teen whiskers with a DE a few times this last spring. It was fun.
    Be well,

Isn't it lovely? I did this with my 5 year old son. It was a blast, he loved it and it was adorable. A fine father/son moment. He then asked if he could have my razors when he's older (he also has claimed dibs on my fountain pens)!

    Cute story.

When I was a kid I never tried anything like that... only once did I try shaving, at 11, just to see what the hell it did to your skin. It was sort of like that scene in "Home Alone" :) . "Crap, that burns", was my thought. But I always knew as a kid shaving was something I didn't need to do, even though dad did it. It could also be my dad wasn't a particularly distinctive shaver. He used a cartridge razor (Trac II probably), that's my earliest memory of him shaving, some Old Spice shaving cream, and he also had an electric that you plugged into the wall and had two rotary heads- I also remember he usually had a bottle of Lectric Shave hanging around.

I remember getting those secondary-sex-characteristics hairs at age 13. It was something I hated.... I hated the thought of having to shave, hated the thought of hairs growing out of places that used to have no hair, hated all the changes and the zits I was starting to get... am I alone in that one?

Definitely get some pics or video of the two of you shaving side-by-side.
You won't ever tire of looking back on those moments.

My 2 year-old has tried to copy me with toothpaste on his face instead of shaving cream.

It is almost a ritual with my five-year old son. Many times when I am shaving, he will come and pull out his ball tech, ask to borrow the brush and "shave" his fore arms. When I asked him why he chose to shave his arm instead of his cheeks, his told me "I don't have any hair on my cheek and I do on my arm." Thank you for this thread, I must get some photographs I'm in deep trouble, he wants the Rooney's finest and tells me that I can have the Vulfix.

That's a nice story. It makes me want children...

I distinctly remember watching my Father walk around the house with blood soaked toilet paper stuck to his face after his shaves. Needless to say, this did not make me to eager to learn.
