    Default It's on...

So after missing out on Taz's generous PIF by a mere 26 numbers and realising that I'll have to buy myself a razor (thanks for the contest Taz, and congrats Jigga5 on your number predicting abilities!) I went on to classicshaving.com and ordered myself some gear:

    Merkur Classic 1904 razor
10-pack Merkur double edged platinum blades
    TOBS Lavender Shaving Cream (tub)
Classic Shaving's 'Contemporary' covered shave bowl (in cobalt) with
Classic Shaving's Fresh Lime Shaving Soap
Vulfix 2234 shaving brush (in black)
plus a nickel stand to go with both the brush and the razor.

    Now here's the catch...

I currently live in France; as of Tuesday I'll be moving to Canada - only not directly. I'm spending five weeks traveling around Europe before touching down at Pearson Airport. (My stuff is being shipped by boat, and will arrive a few weeks after me.) The shave gear should be in Canada within the week; my Mach 3 has been exiled to the tea-chests on the boat. For the next month I'll be getting the occasional (weekly or less) barbershop shaves in Italy, Austria, Germany, England. Then I return to find no Mach 3 but a nice Merkur with fresh blades.

    Oh, it's on.

Sounds like a fun little trip .

You should take some pictures of all the barber shops you get shaved in and post them for all to see also a rating on each one would be a pretty fun idea

    Enjoy the trip

    Very very nice starter kit!!!

As a note, while I am quite the fan of Merkur blades, there are a few that aren't. Might I suggest you also order John's Sampler Pack of blades!!!

So, what's up here in C-eh N-eh D-eh? Where are you moving to?

Great kit, and sounds like a great trip. I second the motion on blades: try a wide variety to find those that work best for you. Sampler packs:

In the US: here and here.
    In the UK: here.

Thanks all. I'll do my best to take photos of the places I get a shave - still trying to decide if I want to blow the large amount of cash that one of the 3 Ts will cost me to get shaved at their shops as well.

I'll be getting a sampler pack once I got home; the merkurs are just so I have something to start myself off with.

Thanks for the well wishes, and happy shaving!

(oh and Newfie, I'll be moving to St Catharines via Hogtown)
