    Default Choosing to get OLD

    Interesting situation!

Started DE shaving two years ago (after years with electric and carts). First DE Muhle r89 followed by a Vision. Then decided I needed a Fatboy followed by Diplomat, Executive, Toggle, Giromatic, Criterion and now on to ABC sets.

I am going back in time anyone else found this situation?

Ha, yep... I did the same. Started with a new Merkur HD 38c, then bought 3 Gillettes... Red Tip, Blue Tip, and 40's SS. Sometimes when shaving with those I'd just stop for a second and think about the fact that I'm shaving my face with something that is 70 years old. I've since switched to straights, and some of those are even older.

    Default Going back in time

    Yes. Absolutely.

My razor buying has been a trip backwards in time. I started off with a couple of Super Speeds and adjustables - which were '50's and '60's (the Super Speed was actually from 1970).

Then I got the open comb bug. From 1930s NEWs, to a 1920s ball-end Old Type, and most recently a single ring from 1914.

    Vintage Gillette Old Types

While the NEW is a lot smoother, I think these Old Types are the most beautiful razors I've used. I mean to get an ABC next.

My two daily shavers are a couple of replated Old Types.

By far the best razors I own.

I've got a NEW short and long comb head replated in nickel. Awesome shavers.
