Default My turn to Pay it forward. Offer for a newbie a Gillette SuperSpeed

A few months ago BroJohn facilitated my return to shaving with a DE by a generous PIF offer. Now its time for me to pass the favor along and offer a razor to a newbie looking to try a DE. BroJohns conditions were both clear and generous, so Ill simply repeat them here:

    per BroJohn:
    I've got a black handled Gillette superspeed available to a recently new B&B member who is still shaving with a Sensor, M3, or BIC/Gillette twin blade disposibles. {BroJohn subsequently extended the offer to users of other "face rakes" as well}

...suitable for someone to use for a few months to get started with a DE while you settle on your kit and eventually acquire a fine new razor.

    1. I'll ship to the US only and I will pick up shipping costs as well.

    2. You must be wet-shaving but not have a DE razor yet.

    3. When you are done with it, you must clean it up and offer it to another newbie on this same basis I'm offering it to you. Which means you offer it to the next guy (who doesn't have a DE) free of charge and you pick up the shipping.

    4. You are not to sell or trade it.

    5. I'll drop in a pack of Derby's and a pack of the red pack Personnas to get you started.

    6. This is on the honor system.

PM me if interested, include your name and address.

BTW, razor is a 1973 black-handled SuperSpeed showing slight signs of wear, but in nice condition. Ill include a tube of cream, too.

    WOW!!!

    I am a newbie.

But i have 9 razor blades. Does that make me ineligible for this newbie offer

I would take this offer strictly for the free Derby and Personna blades and cream, let alone a free DE razor.

I think the terms of this offer are enticing. Kind of romantic or intoxicating. And i do mean THAT in a platonic way.

Congrats to the newbie that gets this offer. And remember to Pay it forward when you are done.

    Default NewB

Well, I qualify in every way, but I've got a couple razors coming to me pretty soon. I have yet to use a DE, but switching to good soap and brush made me know quickly the path I was trotting down! :)

I'd love the set for the blades (don't really need the cream, but I'd try it out for comparison) and would gladly repeat the cycle sooner than later!

Let me know if you think that qualifies, I'll be DE shaving by next week regardless so I'll leave that up to you

    Default update

    Gents,

I'm afraid I am unable accommodate those of you interested in trying an assortment of blades. May I suggest the oft-recommended letterk sampler pack?

My intent is to give a newbie who's using a cartridge contraption, but is interested in shaving with a DE razor, a chance to try one. This was done for me; now I'd like to "pay it forward".

If this describes you please send me a PM.

My turn to “Pay it forward”. Offer for a newbie – a Gillette SuperSpeed ...

Mike (Prodeje79) has spoken for the SuperSpeed. Mike's a new member who thinks it's time to leave behind the various cartridge razors he's been using. He's done some of the requisite background reading and viewing, which I've encouraged him to continue. I've also asked him to introduce himself to us at the Shave Clinic & Newbie Check-In forum.

My turn to “Pay it forward”. Offer for a newbie – a Gillette SuperSpeed ... Part two:

Back when I availed myself of BroJohn's kind offer another member replied almost simultaneously. BroJohn accommodated both of us. Something similar happened this time, too. Ezra (ASmith) sent me a PM just a few minutes after Mike. I don't have another superspeed to send, so I’m sending Ezra a Gillette Tech and some IP blades to help him get started. I've made the same request and recommendations (i.e., Leisureguy’s blog, Mantic’s videos, and Kyle’s “stickies”, then keep learning) to him.

Let's welcome them both to our ranks.

(This thread is starting to look like I'm talking to myself )

    Based on:

    >6. This is on the honor system.

I, and most likely we, was expressing appreciation for the offer but more need for the blades than the entire setup. It is a great thing to do and I would have jumped for it (instead of mosied) only several days earlier. I now have 4 razors and a starter blade collection en route, both from Ebay and another generous B&B member, (though I have yet to use a DE) and being honest, did not want to take that razor from a more viable person.

I will, though, remember this concept when it comes time to pass on some good starter equipment.

    Thank you so much, Ed!

I am excited to have this opportunity! I will be sure to pass along the same generosity.

I will continue my studies and will 'check in' soon.

    Thank you, again!!!!!!!

Ed took care of me big time. I probably would have waited until my current M3 supply ran out before getting a safety razor.

Thank you sir, you are an example to us all.
