Hi, I was wondering if you had any ideas on a good "tobacco" cologne. I've tried Creed's Tabarome and Havana. Any ideas? I suppose these are similar to the "leather colognes" too. Thanks.

The Gentlemen's Quarter (TGQ) offers a cologne to match their Cavendish Black shaving soap. The TGQ website is not yet fully-functional, but here is a link to their 2007 Product/Price guide (PDF).
You can contact TGQ via email at: [email protected]
I have a small sample vial, and it smells wonderful.
Smooth shaving!
+1 on the Cavendish Black.

Well, this is fairly inexpensive. I haven't tried it, tho. If you order it, be sure to add in a couple of Alum blocks and an Arko Shave Stick or two.![]()

Over at www.manufactum.com, they sell a Tobacco cologne. Very classic and made in Austria I believe. Is it Old Innsbruck?
Nobody mentioned Tabac!
Be there or be square. Only I can do both!
I've got a cat named Beefeater and a dog named Beefeater, and two goldfish called Beefeater and Beefeater. There's Beefeater my hamster and Beefeater my horse, and my piglet, known as Beefeater of course.

Here's a good place to start http://www.basenotes.net/cgi-bin/bas...?Notes=Tobacco.
I heard Vetiver by Guerlain is a classic, albeit a little too mature for some, I’m looking forward to trying it out myself.

Serge Lutens Fumerie Turque is the one for me when I want the tobacco undertones. It is nothing short of amazing IMO.

Four wheels move the body. Two wheels move the soul.
+1 for Fumerie Turque but the greatest of them all is probably Caron's Tabac Blond, if you can rise above the marketing that sells it to women (which means you can buy it in perfume strength -- a tiny bottle lasts for ever). If Sean Connery can wear Jicky perfume, then... well, speaks for itself.
Another great but hard-to-find one is Creed Tabarome Original -- more cuban/softer/warmer and less crazed testosterone boardroom punch-in-the-eye than the recent Tabarome Millesime.
And yet another one: Cuba from S. M. Novella. A true tobacco accord but gentle and rich, subtle but persistent sillage.
Knize 10 I'd put as a tobacco/leather, perhaps with the emphasis on leather. But it, too, is a masterpiece.
Wow.
After reading this thread and finding out that there's at least *3* L'Occitanee's in San Francisco (just happened to stumble upon one today) I went in looking for something tobacco-y and damn did I find something. Their Eau des Baux EDT on their website says it's got "a sensual and mysterious blend of cypress and incense" but I think it smells like I rolled around in the local tobacco shop's bins for a couple of minutes.
While not a straight-tobacco smell, when you first put it on it's like having your suit stuffed with vanilla-flavored pipe tobacco. After a couple hours and some excersize it fades a bit, leaving a musky, vanilla sweetness, but a manly vanilla. Cedar maybe? I still can't help smelling my wrist every 10 minutes. Yumbos.
I went to drop some stuff off at my SO's work and let one of her coworkers smell my wrist: "Whoa dude-- that smells like a boardroom... in 1958!" Ok, not bad.
Then my girlfriend: "I think I just found my new favorite cologne of yours. Yar!" ("yar" is the codeword we use for "damn that's sexy!", much like pirates must have.)
I suggest if your looking for something in that range, go to L'Occitanee and try it out. It's a shame, though, that they only have creams in the Cade (which is a pretty kick-ass juniper scent... no idea how it shaves though)
