Default GEM initiate 1st shave report

Had my 1st SE shave and am happy to report all went well.
Loaded my OCMM with a new GEM blade (actually did this 3 or 4 times trying to make sure the gap looked right ), set my boar brush to soaking and hit the shower.
I whipped up a RS cream/Cade soap super lather and set the bowl in a sink of hot water.
Paid close attention to pressure and angle (which is the key to success with any razor but but even more so with the SE ) and did a 3 pass WTG/XTG/ATG shave.
A cold water rinse, an application of 1-1 Clubman Pinaud/Witch hazel followed by some Nivea Replenshing Balm closed it out.
I was rewarded with a decent bloodless DFS.
Thanks to all for the help and encouragement getting me started in the SE world especially MrGuy with those excellent vids.

That's good to hear. I asked in the GEMini thread cause I was curious how the first go around with the OCMM went since you've been at this awhile.

The OCMM is not to be feared, but rather admired. And used! Frequently!

You'll start liking SE shaving more and more. It's inevitable. Welcome to the Gemocracy.

    Shave #2 (same blade)
Same setup except used VDH Glycerin Shave Soap and CODE aftershave.

Smoother then the first and even closer.
    0 irritation 0 blood.
Just a real nice DFS shave.
I splashed on some Code and didnt even get a burn.
When I shave, I shoot for a CCS.
More often then not I get a nice DFS and am happy with that.
The occasional BBS is a welcome surprise.
If there was a razor that could do consistant BBS this would be the 1.
I jut see them in my future.
    This razor is that good.
If I could find a fault with the Micromatic it would be the handle.
It is 1 slippery sog but I have made adjustments and with this kind of performance far from a deal breaker.
This razor now sits in the #1 spot in the rotation. (if that exists any more).
