Default Battle of the Great Aromatic Fougeres

Many claim that the fougere is the greatest genre of men's fragrances and is typically defined as having a top note of lavender and basenotes of oakmoss and coumarin (tonka/vanilla).

The aromatic fougere is a derivative of this genre including spice and woods notes to the above mentioned notes of the basic fougere.

I've been drawn to this genre lately and discovered many classic gems.

The first of this genre, is claimed to be Paco Rabanne's Pour Homme released in 1973 and aromatics and variations of the aromatic are still made today.

Which one is your favorite? I may have to give a slight edge to Azzaro, but I really like all of these quite a bit.

My favorite is still the Paco Rabanne pour Homme:)

A lovely, fresh scent that still has great appeal!

It was a tough choice but I ultimately opted for the Rive Gauche pour homme, a dandy of a fougere. However, I traded in my RGph for Patou pour homme, which wasn't on the list. tisk!

My favorite is Caron's 3rd Man followed by Azzaro pour Homme.

Sorry guys, I couldn't include them all. There's hundreds of aromatics out there. I just had to pick the ones I thought might be most popular!

With regard to popularity, I could have been quite wrong with several of these...

Voted for Kouros as I am waiting now for a bottle of it right now. I have several of the others and like many fougeres, although I think Kouros is an entirely different animal, not even sure it's a fougere, but I've seen it listed as such. In any case it's unique and fascinating.

Azzaro pH, of these. I suppose there are a ton of aromatic fougeres out there. I can't think of all that fit the definition that I might light better. But the one's listed are good ones, and I like Azzaro a lot!

I had to go with Azzaro pH, too. And I agree, the number of these is overwhelming. There are some that have a similar vibe to me, but I'm not sure if they are actually aeromatic fougeres or not, like Escada pour Homme, and Red by Giorgio Beverly Hills. Oh, and Dunhill 1934.

Love this one too. It is VERY close to Azzaro PH imo. I go back and forth on which one I like better...
