First experience with waxing/pedicure

I went to a Nail Salon a week ago, and I got my eyebrows waxed and got a pedicure as well.

I figured...what the heck, it was worth a try.

When everything was done, I was completely surprised.

I was expecting my feet to sparkle and my eyebrow to be pencil thin. I pretty much expected to look completely metro.

What I got was...nothing special. My eyebrows looked neat and regular, not unlike a trimmed beard. I tried to look for a fault the following week, but there was none.

My feet looked...regular. They looked neat, trimmed, and looked the way they were supposed to. If your feet never feel dry, and you trim/sand your toenails often, your feet will look like you went to get a pedicure.

All in all it was a good first experience, and the results were not what I expected, albeit in a good way.

i ask because of man going to get these services can be a source of embarassment for some whereas others realize the benefits and can shrug off any criticisms.

i tend to take care of my hands DIY to the point girlfriends noticed how healthy my cuticles and nails looked compared to the average guy.

but i am having a hard time if your comments are positive or say the services are unnecessary if you already DIY.

I don't think its bad for a man to take care of himself. Isn't that why we spend alot more time for our shaving routine than the average man?

I agree. The odd guy might give you a hard time about it, but I know for a fact that women notice the little details. Dirty nails, hard dry skin patches and hair like a beast get noticed by men and women alike. There is nothing wrong with cleaning things up a few times a year.

i've gotten a manicure and pedicure with the gf before while she got her nails done.
its ok. i think the women like it because you soak your feet and sit in a massage chair and they rub your hands/arms and feet/calves. but the 90lb woman doing mine....really couldnt put a dent in me. if you get a lot of ingrown nails, then yes its worth it, they will cut those things out.

the waxing i get done every 6 weeks or so, its $10 with tip. i have kinda bushy eyebrows and they clean them up. the bottom part of my brow grows a lot, they clean that up, and it keeps me from having a unibrow.

so its not bad. worth trying. and dont be afraid. there are always a lot of guys in there, and they all say the same thing: its something they do together with their wife.

Same here, I too have gotten mani/pedi with the wife before. It actually feels nice. Although I didn't like the pedi buffing action at the end which results in a high shine of your toenails. They were shiny for like 3 months after that. I also regularly use my wife's cuticle trimmers for my nails at home.

I get regular manicures and find that it makes a difference--not just the nails, but fingers and hands. I get a pedicure every two or three months. I go to a place in nyc for men only. Much more comfortable that way than in a "womans" place. They do a good job.

I guess I'm Old! I do all that stuff when needed myself. I got a Trim nail set in a case over 30 years ago. I replaced the file but the rest are still working great.

I would not step foot in one of those places except to pay out the wife the times she forgot her purse.

Sorry to bump such an old thread, but it's been that long since I'd tried this and I'm thinking about going back. I wore boat shoes almost everyday throughout summer, and the bottom of my left foot looks less than stellar.

No. It costs too much (it's not really expensive, but more so that I'd like to pay) and it's simply not necessary.

I go with my wife for a pedicure about 3 to 4 times a year. I get really bad calluses on my feet, and a pumice stone just doesn't cut it. In between I rub Keri Lotion on my feet to keep them from getting dry, and getting a lot of dead skin. I wouldn't think of wearing sandals or flip flops with my feet without the peds and Keri treatments.

My barber gets a manicure once a month. He tells me "When you get to be my age you realize that you need to treat yourself once in a while" He's in his 70's (at least) He said sometimes he gets his toes done too. I never would have guessed he would go in for that kind of thing, he's just an old small town barber.
