    Default first straight razor shave

Well i finally ordered a straight from larry at whipped dog. Nice razor and has a great edge on it. I finally shaved with it and not bad at all. I haven't developed any technique with a straight I know that it will soon. It wasn't the best shave I had to finish and touch up with my safety razor. I had less irritation than when I first shaved with a safety razor. I guess that using a safety really helped with technique for the straight. I only got two small weepers. I'm hooked on straight shaving now.

I had to do touch up with my safety razors too when I started. It took me about 1mo, and one cut to learn. The chin was the hardest part to learn. Keep the good work up and if there is anything you need to know let us know. Keep us updated on your shaves.

Sounds like you did better than me ! I'm still using my starter kit from Larry .
It is a fun challenge and hopefully by shave 45,654 (not sure what year that will be ) , I will have a DFS ! ha ha

Keep at it and take your time no rushing !

    Cheers,

    Congratulations to a good start!

I´m on my 10th straight shave now or so, still having to touch up with DE. Moving from Taiwan to Hong Kong have not given me much chance to work on technique yet.
Its ok for me, I do not feel any rush to be hard-core straight shaving at the first month. My primary goal is always to be able to go to work without a bleeding neck, the rest will follow in time.

Congrats! Just wait until you start trying to figure out how you can shave twice a day...

My experience was exactly the same. Needed touch-ups, took one month, and the chin was the hardest. I'm still learning but at this point I normally get very good shaves, and it doesn't take that long.
