Magnetic

Hi guys,

So I have a few straights that say Magnetic or magnetized on them and lo and behold they are.

Was there a good reason for this? Was there a specific era where this was popular (could help me date them)?

Thanks

Some say that a magnetic straight will help raising the hair to cut it better/easier. Is it true? I don't think so as I never noticed a difference between a similar sized straight that was magnetic/non-magnetic.

To identify the straights and date them, do you have any pictures? Brand, markings?

It was a marketing ploy.

This^.
It was based on a popular pseudoscientific theory of the time that magnetizing steel realigned the steel's molecules. This was supposed to render the steel capable of obtaining a sharper, smoother, and longer lasting edge. No one has ever been able to scientifically prove this.
