What's new

So I just made a practice lather...

... to prepare for tomorrow's first DE shave. I applied it on my wet face and neck to get a feeling for some good creamy lather, and shaved only the moustache with a cart (because I have to have my stubble until tomorrow evening, and a moustache on me is unacceptable). When I applied it it started to tingle a little and itch. I think my lather was of a decent quality, it formed peaks and was very smooth. I used De Vergulde Hand soap (http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showthread.php?ltr=D&t=10722) since it's widely available here. After rinsing warm and cold I noticed it left my face (most of all my cheeks) very dry so applied some Nivea ASB (white bottle) and my skin is a tad red, although I haven't even touched it with a razor. Could it be that my skin doesn't like the soap? Or did I poorly mix it? Or could it be the brush? When I use the brush 'dry' on my skin the tips feel hard but I don't get any irritation or redness, actually it's quite comfortable and it seems to prevent ingrowns.

ps.

Tomorrow I'll try with my new gear + Kyle's prep.
Merkur 34C
Proraso cream
Omega boar brush
Any blade from my sampler pack
