What's new

testing , testing 1,2,3 damascus straight

7/8 damascus with a solid core

stabilized ebony one piece handle (copied Tim Zowada)

mokume washers with a ni-silver pin

I'm making four straights with different steels for testing to see if we can learn which types of steel would be best for razors

This is the third one

Max Sprecher is honing and testing them. Thanks Max

Very unique, and I like the fine damascus pattern. I am not a fan of wider blades, but that would be a nice one to try!

What size do you prefer?

Hoss

Another great looking razor. Well done on the scales also!

What size is a loaded question...lol. What I have found is most that are buying vintage look for around 6/8. Most of the guys that are buying customs seem to be looking for the 7/8-8/8 range.
I guess that's because the big vintage blades aren't as easy to come by.

Great job! Black scales always look good.
What's the basis for deciding what's best? Easiest to make? Longest lasting edge? Or...?

Best honing response and smoothest shave.

Hoss

Ummmm, if you're looking for a shave tester.....

 Another very very nice looking razor. Every time you post something, Hoss, I slide one step closer to pillaging the kids' college fund.

Very good looking razor. If you make razors with a similar feel as the TZs I'm sure you won't have trouble selling them; particularly if yours cost under $1k. So far you have captured the style very well.

FWIW I only have used 5/8 & 6/8 but I prefer the feel of bigger and heavier blades so I imagine I would love one like this or even larger.

You must surely produce the finest damascus steel available in the world today!

If I wore a hat I'd take it off for you Sir!

I must admit that I feel some serious envy of Max at the moment:biggrin1:

I will most definitely +1 that!

I haven't seen damascus steel in the patterns your putting out ever! Keep it up! :thumbup1:
