No Pics - still figuring out the new Nikon, but I got some GFT Sandalwood Skin food and I have a Gillette Super Slim coming soon. That should complete my basic collection of Gillette adjustables. Looking at some Georgia razors on the bay - fingers crossed.

I bought this Simpsons Commodore X2 a while ago. It was made in Somerset(Ilminster) era and it has never used. The brush was from G. Horton Ltd. in Cirencester. Unfortunately, I have no modern Simpsons for comparison.

Very nice Commodore, Berkin. I think I like the shape of the handle better than the "modern" one.

Today I decided to check out a big messy, second hand shop that usually has nothing of interest. This time was an exception as you might have guessed I stumbled upon a small, zippered case and asked if could take a look. It appeared to be a shaving travel set based upon a Gillette flare tipped Rocket, with the name of the original owner engraved on one of the doors of the razor.
It appears that this razor hasn't been used much as it is in pristine condition. There is a small nick on one of the doors, probably from the metal zipper.
It might not be a very valuable find (I paid 10 euro, which is about $15) but I like it very much!

    Anyway, on to the pictures:

The engraving can be seen here:

I put in only one bid, but 3 bids came in during the final minute and I didn't counter. I wanted someone to enjoy a good deal. I hope someone here got it. I went for under $10.
w shipping it was prob 15 bucks, you can get that here at b/b mall and cleaner ones.

A really sweet British #15 set , with its shipper arrived.

The shipper isn't perfect, but a nice addition.

Nice classic case for this guy.

Oddly the head has the Popular patent number rather than the more commonly seen 430030 number and head. As a result, the head is very slightly different from the usual #15 variety. Gillette was so efficient in their management of parts. And Consumer Reports (or B&B) wasn't around in those days to point out manufacturing or quality issues back in the 1930s. But there is certainly no reduction in quality in this design or razor!
looks unused, shipper box is nice touch.

    Default I only got this

I could not resist my self I always heard how great La toja products are as well as the floid, I saw that razorbladesandmore.com now carries it. I just had to have them. The La Toja Smells awesome like spicy flowers, the Floid Vigoroso is very cool smells powdery... I dont know but I like it. The EJ Barley feels very different. I have the old 89l as well.

La Toja Shave Cream 150Ml (the tube is huge) La Toja Shave Stick (Smells Awesome) Floid Vigoroso (Smells Awesome) EJ Barley (yes it is Beautiful)

It has been a few since I have actually perused the site. I was out and about at a local flea market and picked these items up for $4.

Ever-Ready, Gem Micromatic and and box of 7 Blue blades. All are in excellent condition.

Than you Francesco and 57 of yours is also nice. And yes, I agree with you about its shape. Old design have slender neck with wider base than modern one. Some of Simpsons designs are in same situation, imo.

Nice finds! I haven't seen the particular handle that your new to you Ever Ready has. Should be a great shaver! Thanks for sharing.

Found this in an antique shop a couple of towns over. Got it for $3. A new bottle goes for more than that and this is a glass bottle. The seal is broken but it is all there. I wasn't looking for anything like this but as soon as I saw it I had to have it.

    Default Mother's day weekend score

Hit some antique stores while camping in Kentucky. Found a cased ball end tech with no date code, a cased GEM 1912, a Schick Stick Injector, and an old brush with a Bakelite handle. Not pictured is a 1914 I also found.

    Default NEW in (wrong) box

OK, so I bought this for the box - but the razor is a ball-end handle NEW. As I think the ball-end is the most tactile handle Gillette made, and the NEW head the most versatile, it's a great razor.

There's some plate loss on the top plate, which you cannot see in the picture, but the rest of it is in a good condition and cleaned up nicely. As did the box.

1930s NEW in pre-diamond logo Gillette box

I'm happy with my $7 purchase, even if I've now got to find an early single ring Old Type to go in that box. . .

Oh, and by the way, on Page 2 of the thread I posted a picture of another NEW. You'll remember it for being so dirty, filthy and disgusting. Well, it cleaned up nicely:

Gillette NEW, in brass and copper

But right now I'm using the Brownie I posted on Page 1, although I really do need to glue the hande. And I've got two Old Types incoming, in need of restoration. It's razor rescue month at my house.

Drove about an hour to hit up some antique stores, ended up hitting quite a few stores, a junk shop, and 2 flea markets. This is what I cam up with. At about $4 a piece, not bad for a Saturday Morning.

2 Super Speed Flair Tips, 2 40's style, 1 Black handle flair tip, 1 Travel Tech, And an early Eversharp Krona (with the Eagle) The Camera Flash makes them look alot better than they are.
