Default Merkur Futur - Satin or Chrome?

Ok so I've really been wanting an adjustable, and while the fatboys look nice, the right one hasn't come along for me. So I find myself gravitating towards the Merkur Futur - I have a stainless merkur (the one that has the fat handle and apparently no model number as far as I can tell) and I really like it - I'm thinking about adding a Futur to the collection.

Sooo... With sooo many choices..... Chrome or Satin? What would the pro's / con's be of each? It seems like a trivial question, but maybe it's not..

    Thoughts/Opinions?

There's really no difference between the two. I have the satin and love it, others that have the shiny version have not reported any slippage while shaving. So at this point its just a matter of preference.

Don't forget that there is a gold option as well, but it is more expensive than the matte or chrome. I recently got the chrome Futur.

I have both (satin at home, chrome at my cabin) I prefer the satin. It seems like it has a little better grip.

Both are my favorite razors though.

A friend of mine gave me a futur in satin to test it. As i really like it, and a guy on a forum wanted to sold his futur in chrome for 40€, I decided to buy his futur.

Because I really love the "brilliant" finish.

    Default Have both

I have both models. I use the Satin on setting 3 for WTG and then switch to the Chrome on setting 2 for ATG. I have found no difference in the way they shave. I do not have any problem with either razor tending to slip from my grip. I really like the looks of the chrome, but I also like the feel of the satin. Oh well I will keep them both.

I have the satin model and have noticed the satin finish rubbing off (on the top cover and underneath the blade guard). I've only had it for about 3 months so age shouldn't be an issue. I don't know if this is an issue with all Futurs or just mine. I also have a Muehle razor and the finish on that razor is not rubbing off even though I've had it for longer.

Satin for me. Looking at the chrome one, it looks smoother, which might be too slippery while shaving.

Satin for me, just out of preference to matte finished items. Plus I think it masks the soap scum, with my chrome razors you can see a little soap scum after each shave. I usually clean the razor when I change the blade, my hard water is a real pain.

I have the satin and prefer it. I've had it for about a year with no problems with the finish.

I thought the finish was wearing on it a few months ago, but it turns out it just needed a good cleaning with soap and water - it was soap scum making it look weird.
