Default Thinking of going for the Proraso trifecta...

    Hey Everyone,

So I have been thinking about maybe going for the whole Proraso series, which would include:
    1.) Preshave/Post Balm
    2.) Cream
    3.) After shave balm

Any opinions on Proraso after shave balm vs. Musgo Real, Speick, SCS blue line balm, SCS avocado milk balm?

I have used both the cream and the soap, and I like them very much. I think the soap is more for people who use brushes, and the cream for people who use their hands. I use the aftershave balm, and I think it's great. I have not tried the lotion yet. I tried the pre/post a while ago, and I can't remember if I liked it or not. Recently I have been considering buying one again.

The Pre/Post product is actually a cream. I used a jar but I'm now using standard Noxema instead. Different scent but seems to perform the same as the Proraso as a pre-shave lubricating/softening agent.

I continue to use the Proraso cream (not the soap). Bowl lathered with a badger brush. It's a great product but I'm looking for something even lower cost. I have couple of tubes of Godrej Menthol Mist that I'm going to try out which is a little cheaper than the Proraso.

I never used the after shave balm but I used a full bottle of the Proraso lotion. Good product but I switched to standard Pinaud Clubman lotion. About half the price and I like the old school barbershop scent better.

In summary, the (3) Proraso products are all good. The cream is the best value of all of them. The pre-shave is the most difficult to cost justify when a similar sized jar of Noxema is $1.99.

I am new to all this, but I've been these products (sometimes the sensitive soap instead of the cream) and I like them very much! They work very well together. My only other experiences have been with samples (T&H and a couple other creams that some gentlemen here PIFed). So, I can compare the balm with the others you've mentioned, but I think it is a great combination nonetheless.
Luis -- not very good at this, so take all I say with a huge grain of salt

Don't forget the AS splash! It's just as soothing as the balm with just a hint of the alcohol sting.

The Pre/Post is great for beard prep, either using hot water splashes, just rubbing it in and then lathering on top, or using it with Kyle's Prep.

I don't think you'll find a cream more praised on the list. Some more highly praised, perhaps, but nothing in terms of sheer numbers.

The Proraso balm is a little lighter than Musgo, and the Musgo doesn't have the menthol-like rush. Speick is all together different, but a great line of products none the less (I'm planning a complete Speick line-up purchase in the immediate future - like within the next few days).

Can't comment on the SCS products as I haven't used them (although I'm sure they're good).

IMHO, the Pre/Post is unnecessary as a Pre. As a Post balm it is nice and chilly but a bit drying.

The cream is great. Soap is too.

The balm is okay but not as good as any of the other you have listed. Musgo Real and SCS Avocado Oil are top shelf all the way.
