I think my vintage Williams produces a denser, creamier lather than the Arlington.

I had a difficult decision to make this morning. Which of the 3 straight razors that were delivered to use. I decided to go with 7/8 as I'd never used one. My picture does not to the razor justice. It looks much nicer in person.

The first thing I noticed was how heavy the razor seemed, especially compared to the 5/8 razor I was planning to use today. The second thing I noticed was that my face felt like crap. I guess yesterdays shave was worse than I thought. I'll skip shaving tomorrow and use the razor again on Thursday to see what it can do.

Tuesday morning:

Simpson / Fitjar / Merkur / Weleda / Penhaligon's

.
Razor: MoDoSo Solingen 6/8 rescaled in ebony
Strop: Ambrose Spanish Horse 25/50
Brush: Vulfix Grosvenor+Simpson superbadger
Lather: Woods of Windsord, old fórmula with tallow
AS: B.Kamins Bio Maple Balm
EdT: Fragonard Cologne Grand Luxe
.
Summary: Yesterday I touched up this edge, this is not a great razor, but it can shave with efficiency. The soap is one of my favs, and after this great lather. The balm is not a maple syrup, is a fresh balm, with extracts from the maple, it's good but nothing special....but....those canadians can make everything with maple. Fragonard is classy, perfect for daily use.

M O N T A L E
PARIS

Location: Coffs Harbour Australia
Brush: FS Finest Badger
Soap: Tabac
Razor: GEM SE
Astringent: Thayer's Witch Hazel
A/S: Old Spice
Result: Well to be honest I like the photo better than the shave.
I dont blame the razor I think the blades weren't up to the task. They were sold in a Chemist's in the shaving section but labeled as single edge scraper blades. Unfortunately the shave was very poor, but I have had no luck finding Single Edge blades, even on line I haven't found any yet. I recently unearthed this Gem razor in my Dads garage, it belonged to his Dad so for sentimental reasons I'd like to have it usable. Any tips on acquiring SE blades please let me know.
Hope you guys have better shaves today.
Grant

Hey Keith,
She arrived already :thumbup1:? That was relatively fast. Glad you like the looks and hope the shave you get next time is better. Like other SS I've had, she not forgiving on a raw face. She is an amazing shaver though. But, since she's heavy, gotta take it easy on the pressure.

Another fabulous shot Henry . Nicely done

Tuesday 26 April, 2011
The razor was my Treet Delrin
It was loaded with a fresh Israeli Blue
My soap was OBR Sweet Orange
Whipped up a nice lather with my Col. Conk/Vulfix pure badger brush
Rinsed off with hot and cold water
Generous splash of hamamelis
Finished with TSD Bourbon-Vanilla ASB (I'll us the matching cologne when I go out later)

A CCS was my result; no downside at all this fine sunny morning.

Thank you. Have you had the pleasure of shaving with a large Palmera? I highly recommend it. An absolutely superb blade.
