    Default What is the difference

I am looking to purchase some Shark blades after seeing the reviews here and I was just wondering. What is the difference (performance wise) between the shark super chrome and the shark super stainless? Like is one sharper but less durable or smoother ect. Thanks ahead of time.

This has been asked several times and the answer is usually split 50/50. I can't find a discernible difference between the two. I would just buy the one that you can get the best deal on.

Ok, I was just wondering cause I found 100 of them (both kinds) for $15 shipping included. That is why I was asking. I guess the question should be more like what is the difference on any blade chrome or stainless or platinum. Like is there a rule of thumb that certain style is sharper than others or smoother or what not. This being applied to all razors and not just sharks.

Actually I find a little bir difference.

Used both, didnt like super stainless ones, as they were not sharp enough for my though beard. didnt provided a satisfying shave.

Super chromes were a tad sharper and provided a better shave. But thats all, no awesomeness here.

In summary, if I were to choose, I would choose super chromes. But for me, both are not good enough.

I have used most of the brands and in my experience, platinum plated blades generally better than regular stainless blades. But notice, its not -always-. There are some real nice plain stainless blades too, like orange asco's and rapira's. Though they tend to rust much more easily than platinum ones as far as I've seen.

Platinum plated blades are just higher class, more expensive ones. It doesnt means a blade is sharper, better, more durable if its a platinum plated. But chances are high if so. There are some -high tech- blades like chrome, ceramic, platinum, tungsten, polymer coating psychoness blades like derby's which are crap actually.

So rather than choosing blades by their coating, choose them by reviews here. :)

My mileage suggests the Shark Stainless Steel blade is more forgiving, less irritating, and lasts longer than the Shark Chrome blade. This, after going though over 100 SS blades and probably 35-40 chrome blades. I gage irritation with an alum block. Having said that, I like them both, and have stockpiles of both. I use Feathers in a Pils, Sharks in a Feather AS, and Bolzanos in the Futur, as a rule.

Another SS blade I like is the Astra SS in the blue packaging. I prefer them over the the platinum Astras, but I have only used a few packs of each. I like the Timor SS blades (said to be teflon coated?).

I think Shark SS blades last longer, but the Chromes may shave closer. YMMV. Some say they are the same blade in different packaging.

I definitely think that the Super Stainless are smoother than the Chrome blades, but I can get more shaves out of the chrome. I guess it's a trade off, but that's my opinion. I would recommend the Stainless but it varies by user.
