What's new

My New Castor Straight

This is my first straight razor! Elegant with a bit of cuteness, provided by the beaver on the tang :tongue_sm
And there is a very faint hint of etching on the blade that says Extra Hollow Ground and a little scratched in script on the the front scale that says Holbee.

I haven't shaved with it yet, I'm still a bit intimidated

EDIT: I can't figure out why my pictures don't show. And they look terrible, ug.

EDIT: Showing the pictures

That looks all right, if it's shave ready, keep it slow, no pressure and don't be afraid.

I took the liberty of fixing the pictures. Flickr is a bit difficult sometimes. You need the link pointing directly to the picture (.jpg) for the
to work. :thumbup1:

Thanx so much for fixing that. Coincidentally, I was peeking at your very nice rescale.

It is shave ready I got is here on the BST from Ian (SliceofLife). He even touched it up on a Water of Ayr stone (He let me choose but I really know very little of what that means or how to choose, it just sounded kool).

Now that the pictures are showing, I see the My Little Ponies and the beaver on the blade. It's like I'm 30 going on 5yrs old :lol::lol:

Happy to help! :thumbup1:

I never had a straight finished on that stone so I do not know how smooth the edge will be. Ian knows his stuff so you should be fine!
