Help for a friend

I have a friend who has been DE shaving for about 2 weeks now and is ready to get his own stuff. He has been using my HD for this entire time and thinks he wants something more aggressive and is asking me for help. Should I just tell him to get a HD or open comb? he has only used the C.O Bigelow cream and has my AOS soap for the weekend to try. He started with a Omega 49 and started using a Rooney prototype in Silvertip towards the end.
