    Default New Feather Razor Arrived!

My new Feather DE arrived today and I can hardly wait to try it in the morning. I am going to lather with Mitchel's Wool Fat and give that bad boy a serious try!

Here is a picture along side a Merkur, HD Slant and a Fat Boy, so you can get an idea of the size.

It is noticeably heavier than the HD. The fit and finish is fantastic.

It does not exactly offset the cost, bit they do throw in a 10-pack of Feather blades.

Remember that the Feather requires a steeper angle than other razors. It takes some getting used to but it just gliiiiiides once you find that sweet spot.

And yeah, it's heavy. It's like 92g, which makes it heavier than anything aside from Merkur Barberpoles and the newer heavyweight Parkers. I love the looks too. I've had mine nearly a year and still get a kick out of its "surgical tool" appearance.

What do you mean by steeper? Handle more perpendicular to the face? Or more parallel? I am fairly new so some of the vocabulary goes by me. Thanks.

More perpendicular. Closer to 45 degrees than the standard 30.

I had a very comfortable shave with no cuts or weepers. It is at least equal to the slant, but I need a few more days to really get a feel for it.

The feel of the longer handle is very interesting.

I think I am going to like it.

This might find its way onto the list of things to save for. The problem with all these fancy shaving things is affording them on a student's budget! Might be a while since I just bought an Emperor...

I got mine few monthes ago I can't have enough of him.
Shaving angle is closer to 45° but balance is perfect. Every tiny detail of this razor is eceptional, very well premeditated and superb finished.

it really is beautiful and shaves well. I am on the fence of having regrets after having got rid of mine, but i think it had to be done. straights were just overpowering it in my rotation..

Do you mean 45* blade angle, or handle angle? I have found that a 45* handle angle is necessary to achieve a 30* blade angle, or at least reach the point where the head, blade edge, and guard all touch (as based on tilting it on my arm or counter to see).
