i was about 16 and exploring this old abandoned house - had a funny concealed medicine cabinet - guess no one else ever thought to feel around on the mirror - anyway - it came open and inside was this old gillette razor - very dirty and with green gunk on it - i was like - wow thats cool - it was very heavily made and adjustable - found out years later it was a fatboy made in the first quarter of 1959 - so here we go - i was shaving at the time - drumroll please - hahahahahaahah - and just a stupid kid playing around with the settings and with no idea of proper technique - turned it up to 9 and had a go at my face - hahahaahahahahahah - man - that thing ate my *** up but good - hahahahahahaha - so - i put it away with my other special things that i just keep - so here we are at present -27 years later - my 11 year old daughter wants to see what i have in that old cedar chest - so i show her all my old neat stuff and pick up that razor again - i thought HMMMMMMMMMM - maybe if i read up a bit on how to use these things it might be fun to try again - so i found the article how to shave like your grandpa over at the art of manliness - turned the razor down to 3 and started using it effectively in no time really - with every new shave my technique improved and i was soon moving up to a 4 with no problems - so once i was good with the fatboy i then bought a NEW short comb gold plated and WOW - definitely more aggressive feeling to me - but i was working it like a pro after about 3 shaves and it is now my favorite razor - and i have ordered up a fluted handle with NEW head and long comb from bobs razor works - just couldnt resist the photos - hahahahahahaahhaha - all those years i was using those cheap disposable plastic pieces of crap and didnt really know what a good shave was - i could never shave every day with those things - more like every 2 or 3 days because of irritation - but these old gillettes ? man i can shave every day and look good - may not be as close but so what - and the cool factor is way high - hahahahaahahah - now im an ebay junky and starting to collect em
