I read an article a few months ago that indicated the reason behind the move is that the qualifying times for women were too easy. The article stated the times were antiquated and based on the assumption that most women couldn't run a marathon at a decent pace. If I can find the article on line I'll edit my post.

I'm not sure why that also resulted in reducing the time requirements for male runners.

    EDIT: Here's the link: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB1000...914934718.html

That's an excellent point, I never thought of that. The women's times aren't very difficult to meet at all. It's too bad they couldn't just do things fairly, but being from that town I have some ideas.

Those are last years. This year was even faster.

    Caroline Kilel, KEN, 2:22:36

    Geoffrey Mutai, KEN, 2:03:02

This is almost a minute faster than the world record but it doesn't count because the elevation drop is a bit too much.

I watch those non-world class runners hitting Heartbreak Hill and it makes me want to cheer run out there and hug the poor folks. That's a killer.
    Is this your homework, Larry?
