I am counting down the days until I get my straight that I ordered from Larry at Whipped Dog. Can't wait to cut myself to shreds.

The bark of the straight is worse than its bite. As long as you take it easy, stick to the easy bits in the beginning and do not attempt anything you do not feel ready for, you should be all right.

Don't expect much ... as long as it isn't a bloodbath, consider it a success.
Take it slow. Make sure to watch the tip (and heel). Expect your first full shave of your face/neck to take one full hour or more. With this you should get a pretty poor looking result with lots of razor burn and a few weepers. If you can do this, I would say you have had a HUGE success! Just start at the top, and work your way down. You will get a lot of confidence from the first cheek, then the second cheek, but after that, things tend to get a bit more tricky. Good luck!
Well I had my first shave with the straight over the weekend. Overall, it was pretty good. I did nick myself good with the end of the razor though, two times (at the very end of the razor, at the 90 degree angle). The first pass was a little uncomfortable, it felt like it was dragging accross the hair. Is this normal? I believe that I had decent form, aside from those two nicks mentioned earlier, I had zero irritation and zero cuts.
