every substance is unique. Genuine horn is nice. I also like the faux horn. The thing is, for me after I start using a brush I usually get more into the aesthetics YMMV.

I've heard that it needs oiled on a rare occasion. But I'll leave it to guys who know to answer you for sure.

Genuine shorn shou;d be dried after use. I've read that it sould be oiled periodically too but I don't know. I always thought imitation horn is resin, which would make it no different than most brush handles.
