    Default Raven hone

I picked this up this morning. Box is falling apart but the hone is fine except for a small chip off of the edge of the non-logo side. Feels like a piece of glass. I paid $10 for it, was that reasonable?

I do enough hand plane blade and chisel sharpening to know that this is a hard stone that I would never use for those purposes. Is this stone just for polishing the edge?

It's a barber hone. Yes they were intended to be used to "touch up" a razor that was slightly dulled from repeated uses shaving (not really meant to sharpen a dull razor). In other words, they are as you put it polishing stones. Probably quite similar to Swaty's (perhaps the most well known razor hones). $10 in the box in that good of condition (Box and stone) is a very good deal. If it were on eBay, I'd expect it to sell for $25-40.

Or more! It's crazy how much they can sell for sometimes. For $10 it's a steal. It's just so cool looking. Are you going to use it? Be sure to let us know how it goes.

I bought one on EBay about 6 months ago for $26. You did well. I didn't even get a box. It's a fine looking smooth stone. Seems to touch up my razors just fine.

Great find at that price. Looks nice... just use it. Lap it 10 years from now if it needs it!

If you are careful with your razors, if you don't damage them, you can maintain your edge indefinitely with no other stone besides your barber hone.

+1, except that, based on my experience with the Swaty, it won't ever need to be lapped.

I'd call that a score, nice, cool looking barber hone in a box for $10. Well done.
