Default Another Godrej Thread - Godrej vs. Proraso

Godrej Menthol Mist. Bought (2) tubes hoping it would be a lower cost alternative to Proraso which I have used exclusively for about 5 months.

Comparable lather and shave BUT with Proraso after I have completed a pass on every part of my face and neck, when I rehydrate with a quick splash of warm water, the Proraso is "re-activated" and I still have a lot of lubrication to go back over my face WITHOUT re-lathering. Eventually I need to relather but initially I don't.

With the Godrej, the same splash of water almost comletely rinses away any lubrication from my face and relathering is absolutley required.

I haven't done the arithmetic but unless you can buy the Godrej at a local Indian market and avoid shipping costs, while the Godrej is probably less costly than the Proraso, it's probably not by much.

A tube of Godrej is a lower volume package than the Proraso. I think I paid $9 for (2) tubes including shipping costs which is less than what a single tube of Proraso ususlly costs with shipping costs.

Jury is still out as to whether this will sublant my Proraso as my go-to cream.

Proraso is better in my book. Cost and performance can't be beat.

I can get as good a shave from either. I always re-lather between passes, so I haven't noticed the phenomenon you mentioned. The Godrej Menthol Mist does have A LOT more menthol than Proraso, but the only time I ever grab it is for when I want that sensation. I'm not a big fan of the secondary scent of any of the Godrej creams, probably due to the lanolin. I much prefer the sterile minty scent of Proraso. That said, I'm coming home from Germany with 7 new creams and 3 new soaps/sticks, so it will probably be awhile before I shave with my old standby again.

That's odd. Godrej has lanolin, which in my experience remains as a slight, slick film on the skin after you splash your face between passes.

+1 Kevan, that's my experience as well. Also, my sink water is totally slick after the first pass of rinsing Godrej off the razor, so re-wetting my face certainly doesn't diminish the slickness. Heck, I can feel the lanolin in my skin after 2 rinses, a witch hazel application, and a splash of aftershave!

I like Proraso just fine, but I LOVE me some Menthol Mist!

This is definitely one of those YMMV situations. I much prefer Godrej to Proraso.

much prefer Godrej. I have a buddy that goes to india for business on occasion, last time he brought me back 2 tubes, he said they cost him the equiv. of about 1 dollar total.

I refuse to pay 10 shipping for something that cheap, to have it mailed from India.

I know WCS has it also, but then again the shipping kills the cheap factor.

Im sticking to MB soaps anyway.

Google shopping search reveals good options for this cream.

See if they can order some for you - it should be fairly straightforward for them.
Having said that, I haven't had much luck in convincing local shops near me to get some Old Spice AS yet. No harm in giving it a shot.
