Duc De Vervins - green bottle with DV on it smells old school but I think it is from the 1990s. The cologne is a bit much but the AS balm and a good vetiver like Tom Ford, Kiton, or (of course) Guerlain is a good combo.

Threads like these are a gift to novices like me, trying to make sense of a bewildering array of brands, terms, and preferences. I've ordered a number of samples, based on advice in this, and other Fragrance forum threads. Many thanks to all.
B&B is a tremendous source of information.
It is nice to see this thread resurrected. I found it quite helpful last year and it has piqued my interest again. I tracked down samples of a handful od fragrances that I hadn't tried. The one that I liked the best was Domenico Caraceni 1913. I hadn't heard of it before B&B. It has become one of my absolute favorites.

I'm glad to see this thread revived again, too. Reminds me, I enjoyed wearing the Kanon Norwegian Wood the other day that I picked up in Marshall's for $6.99, and my wife commented that it smelled good, too. I also enjoyed the MFK Absolue Pour le Soir the next day. Enjoying scents doesn't have to be about how much they cost. There are lots of great scents to enjoy in every price range.![]()

The Kanon Norwegian Wood is one of my favorites. Thanks for reminding me about it...just applied some a few minutes ago and am thoroughly enjoying the sweet, woodsy fragrance. I've also found it to be one of my longest-lived frags. I can put it on in the morning and I can still detect it when I go to bed at night. The only other one of mine that's so persistent is Grey Flannel.
