Silvertip for soaps?

Hey Guys,
Was thinking of getting a new Silvertip brush. I almost excusively use soaps and always face lather. I know stiffer brushes are supposed to be better for soaps but since I started using my kent bk4 silvertip I don't think I can ever go back to anything else. I never had any bother lathering soaps with this brush as my water is soft and I always wet the soap puck first. I would like something more dense and was thinking of simpsons chubby 2 in silvertip. Your recommendations are appriciated.

I'm a soap user, almost exclusively.
Lately, I've been using my silvertips or 2 bands badger brushes to load the soap and face lather. Easy and fun.
Just be sure to choose a relatively short and dense lofted brush.

I have a Chubby 1 Super 3 band (= Silvertip) and I face lather soaps almost exclusively. The CH1 Super is AMAZING.

As far as I know, Simspon super badger is super badger and not sliver tip badger hair grade. I have a Chubby#2 super it is a fantastic brush but it definitively has not the soft feel of a silver tip, my Duke#2 feels slightly softer. By the way, what actually this Simpson super badger made of is not clear to me (it looks very much like a regraded best and the Simpson best is damn good).


A TGN short lofted brush would work fine, more expensive the D01 shavemac option should be considered especially the two band D01 (stick with 3 band if you're looking for an extra smooth feel).

I have a D01 two band 21mm knot 50mm loft, it drives easily through a soap puck and I cannot imagine a brush more appropriate to face lather (extra firm yet silk soft on the skin).

The Simpson Tulip 2 is a quality performer on soaps. I have used it on TH soaps and Mama Bear's also.

Silvertip brushes do just fine with soaps. In addition to the Chubby 2, take a look at the Duke, Classic and Fifty Series models, all in Best. All handle soaps with aplomb.

I have 3 Savile Row silvertips that load up soap quite well.

A floppy silvertip might stuggle but even then enough time on the puck will get the job done.

I only used soap and I mostly use a silvertip unless I am traveling. So far I have no problem getting good lather. I say go for it! If it doesn't work out for you I would gladly take it off your hands

Silvertip is a vague term at best, but its important to remember that is says nothing about the density or firmness of the brush - which is really what we're interested in here. One silvertip brush may be loosely packed and floppy, and another may be densely packed and short lofted. As mentioned above the CH 1 Super is one of the densest brushes available and is what you could could a grade of silvertip, while the Kent BK12 is as well - very different brushes.

I would echo what's already been said. Shorter lofts and greater density are in order, but a nice silvertip can definitely do the trick. I use soaps exclusively, and have a Semogue '10 LE (a nice silvertip) in the rotation.

My New Forest High Mountain Badger has super soft tips and I have no problems with face lathering hard soaps. It is a 46mm loft.

I have a Savile Row 3824 Silvertip and a Chubby 2 in 3 band Super and both just eat soaps for breakfast.

I have been thinking about pulling the trigger on a D01 brush, for the purpose of tearing into some soap. I have a shavemac in the silvertip variety (as far as I know, the D01 is a different grade of silvertip designed with extra backbone in mind) and it does great with creams and soaps. Since 95 percent of the soaps I use are considered "soft soaps", I just can't see how to justify spending that kind of dough, when possibly it will not perform better than my current brushes. Something I will be thinking about for a while.

Thanks for replies guys, am even more confused now Still reading reviews on the different brushes, think I might go for the chubby 1 in super but I really like the look of the shavemac d01 as well.
