Looks like mine's a shedder. Only lost a few hairs the first few weeks. Now it's 10 or 15 a day.
Yeah, that's not good. If they get worse instead of stop, then the signs aren't good. Luckily you won't get stuck with it, if the vendor is unhelpful, Simpson won't be.

The Wee Scot, Colonel, Berkley, are all on the short list, as well.
Sorry to hear it's shedding, mine lost 1 or 2 hairs, but they didn't seem to be actually glued into the knot, they were short and kinky. So, hopefully it doesn't lose anymore.

I had the same thing with my first Duke 3. defective. Replacement has lost maybe 3 hairs total. Seems to be hit or miss with the duke 3s
My Newly acquired Duke 3 lost a total of 4 hairs so far. Its had 5 shaves and the original washing/shampooing when brand new. The first 3 were were lost on the first shampoo and initial lathering. One hair was lost on the first actual shave. None since.
