Default My new Blue Stars Lady Gillette P1

Here is my newest BST purchased, restored to nice and shiny condition. I figure with cycling season coming up, I needed a good leg shaving razor.....Kidding I was a little worried when it showed up as it was dirty and grungy, but under all that was a nice looking razor with no watermarks, rust, tarnish, scratches or gouges. TTO works fine, star paint is 100% in tact and no damage to any of the blue knurled handle. Some scrubbing bubbles, alcohol, Maas and time/effort and out came a very nice razor.

I actually figured I'd try to get my wife hooked on it, so we can stop buying her expensive cartridges and allow me to buy more product (soap, brushes etc) without feeling guilty.

I thought I'd start her off with a Blue Star Lady Gillette (date code P1) and add a nice brush and cream and give her a little DE Care Package.

Here are the before (1 pic) /after pics of the razor.

I have always thought that with the longer handle those would make a great face razor as well. If I could find one without the girly colors I would consider purchasing one for myself. I just cannot get over the girly colors and would feel out of sorts using one in periwinkle blue or pink.

I HAVE used one for face. It was blue, so I didn't realize it was a girly razor. I liked the long handle, thought that was cool. Extremely mild; almost too mild. Might work really well with Feathers but I think I was using ASR Personnas in it. As for the girly colors, I don't shave for an audience anyway. And especially if you get a pink one, you might think about just removing the color. I would like to see one gold or rhodium plated, myself. Then again, why worry about the color? Shave with a pinky! Show the world you don't have any insecurities about your masculinity! (Or celebrate your diversity, whichever applies)

Try one in the Champagne or gold color.

It was one of those I spotted in a antique mall, and picked up for $4.95 back in Dec that got me started on this journey.

    They are very good shavers

There are gold ones that are very muted, like the blue or pink the stars & grip are gold and the rest is silver.

thanks, it cleaned up quite nicely and actually looks better in person.

i showed a fellow DE shaver my new acqusition and the 1st think he thought was "wow, that would make a nice face razor with the long handle"

i might give it a trial run on my face and see how it goes

my wife and daughters use and love their collection of Lady Gs, in all 4 colors, but do tend to cut themselves especially on the back of the ankle. For my women, getting the angle has been difficult. After using a disposable where the handle is held barely off the skin ( low ) then going to the Lady G where the angle is much steeper, has proven to be a bit tough for them, add to the fact they are shaving a body part that is far away from the face, meaning its harder to see what they are doing in the shower. All in all, if a woman can learn to use zero pressure and not try to get a perfect shave, they can and will love using a lady G. Any pressure, or not having enough angle on the head, they WILL get cut, count on it. Tell your woman to go slowly with her Lady G. One other thing to mention, if they keep the razor in the shower, the blade will rust within a couple of days, and of course the rust will end up on the razor. Scrubbing bubbles and a toothbrush once a week along with a new blade keeps everything looking and working nicely.

A face is hard to shave due to all the different angles we deal with, but its equally hard to shave the legs, simply because the area being shaved is a great distance from the eyes and therefore hard to keep correct angle with the razor head.
