    Default A new DE/Straight Shaver

    Hi Everyone!
Just wanted to introduce myself. I've been shaving with a DE razor for about 3 months and just started with a straight.

Unfortunately I'm finding straight razors addictive. I've bought about 6 or 7 in the last month

I can't wait to learn how to restore old razors and rescale them. I've been making shaving brushes on my lathe too.

I'd love some advice on getting to know how to date and recognize old straight razors. I have Goins' book on backorder and am working my way through the Standard Guide to Straight Razors. Any more resources would be much appreciated.

I'm most interested in razors that British soldiers might have used in the Victorian era (mid to late 1800's).

    Thanks,
    Tim (Tumtatty)

Hi and Welcome... I've looked at the straights and while they look cool and all I think I'm happy with my switch to the DE for now! Best of luck to you! This is an awesome forum... happy shaving!
