Inver House Green Plaid Scotch whisky

Grabbed a glass before dinner at a restaurant last night. Knew it wouldn't be anything special at $5 a glass for the "well" Scotch.

It is a blend. Too sweet. Apple. Little smoke at the finish. One review called the mouth feel "glycerish," I think, and that describes it well. It is the way the Caol Ila felt on the way down. That is where that comparison ends. Something to swish around in a glass during dinner conversation with the in-laws anyway. Easy to drink, but no complexity. You get what you pay for.

Sampled another well Scotch the other night. Lauder's. Bad, bad, bad...

If you like the blends get yourself a bottle of the Compass Box blends. Excellent for the money.

Thanks for the suggestion! I'll keep my eye out for that blend. It isn't that I like blends; these were the only offerings at these restaurants. I much prefer the single malts, like the Glennfiddich 12 I had at The Elephant Bar Saturday night. Much better stuff!
