I found this at a local thrift store & am considering going back & getting it. Is it really a massive pipe rack for churchwardens with places for tobacco jars & ashtray, or am I just seeing everything through some sort of AD goggles?

I don't have any churchwardens right now...but I see a couple in my future.

It probably would work for churchwardens but I think it would take up too much space to be worth it. That said I keep my pipes in a cardboard box so I might be the best person to say anything. haha.

Unless they only want a couple bucks for it I'd pass. Every time I go to an antique store or flee market i see complete ones for <$15

It's only $4 but I probably won't bother. I don't even have a warden at the moment. That said I must not have good antique stores around here. This is the only the second pipe rack I've found locally & the first one was kinda broken.

Picked up a fresh pouch of MacB GE at my B&M. I don't buy as much from there, because the 50g pouch is $19.99, but I do try to give him my business on a regular, if not overly frequent, basis.

Well, I think I'm done for a while. Got two briars sent from home, got two new ones (this is the second), and about a dozen tobaccos. That will get me through a couple months of learning, I think.

I found a great little shop a 1/2 hour from my apartment and went there after work today. The owner, Steve, is a delightful guy, they have a great selection of pipes and tobaccos, as well as cigars, and a nice little smoking lounge. I got the pipe (Eriksen, I really like the look with just a slight bend) and tobacco from him. He suggested the Penzance when I told him what I liked, and NO, I had no idea there was any hype to it or that it can be hard to find until I got home. Never heard of it. looked it up on tobaccoreviews and found out all the hype.

I liked it. I should have read some of the reviews first however, I smoked it right away after rubbing it out. It really does need to sit out on a paper towel for 30-60 minutes to be easily smokable, it's too damp. But I can tell it's right up my alley, I am looking forward to trying a nice dry bowl of it soon.

Try the pembroke from the same company. Its a lighter-medium English with a light cognac casing.

Esoterica Margate is the same as Pembroke without the Cognac topping.

I won 4 pipes on the bay little over a week ago, here are three of them, the fourth is still getting cleaned up.
The one by itself is stamped "London Castle" on one side and "Made in London England" on the other.
The dark one up top is stamped on the bottom "Made In London England International Selection"
The lighter one next to it is stamped "Sunrise Tawney Grain" on one side and "Vintage Briar 334" on the other.
Not sure how much they are worth, but all 4 shipped was under $40, so I'm happy.
The Zippo butane works great on my cigars.

Default A few tins and a cob

Picked up 7 tins of McClelland today:
    3 cans of Oriental 8
    2 cans of Oriental 1
2 cans of Grand Orientals Venidle Supreme "The Queen of Tobaccos"
This is also my first cob, Gentleman straight by Meerschaum.

I don't think I would ever buy this much at once, but once I saw what was stamped on the bottom, I didn't have much of a choice.

The Oriental 1's are dated 2006, the Oriental 8's are dated 2003 and the Venidje Supremes are dated 2007.

My plan is to throw these in the cooler for a while. I just started smoking pipes a few weeks ago, so I want to learn more so I can appreciate them when it's time.
Btw, does anyone know anything about those two Venidje Supremes ??
    Cheers

Picked up a 1/2 lb of Stonehaven and a 1/2 lb of Penz online earlier today. COJ's still had Penz, but I think I got the last of the SH.

Let me know how that smokes. Thought about getting one for my brother. Actually if it smokes good I wouldn't mind having one either. Looks like a great pocket pipe.

Will do, this should save me some money (compared to $6 to $10 a stick) and taste better too IMO.

    Thanks brother.

I'm sorry if this is blasphemous, but why not just chop up a cigar? Still would be a bit pricey compared to pipe tobacco, but you'd get several bowls out of each cigar I'd think. So it would make it a bit more bearable anyway, and you get the best of both worlds right?

Good Idea but I want a cigar that tastes like a pipe not a pipe that tastes like a cigar , I find the cigars bitter and nasty for the most part (and I have tried some "good" ones), I am not really a cigar guy I have just been dabbling in them lately.

I just finished my latest pipe tamper, it's made of Bolivian Rosewood with an 11mm solid brass tamp, it measures 173mm in length and has a great luxurious feel in the hand...

I also got a few more cigars today...
    1 Acid Wafe
    1 Acid Blondie
    and a 5-pack of Acid C-notes
