    Default Late 40's Aristocrat question

How uncommon are late 40's aristocrats that are cased with the correct, orignal cream colored blade holders? What would a reasonable price range be for a razor and case that is in excellent to NM condition? I've scoured the bay and BST for prices and I only found a couple that are similar to the set that has been described to me (they were both mint and definitely worth more). Possibly buying at a distance based on someone elses opinion and basic phone pics and hate to overpay as I already have the razor in excellent condition in a decent case, but without the blade holder.

Excellent, I would say $50-60. Near mint, $80 at the absolute most, shipped. Thats a bit of a guess, but my opinion.

Thanks. The asking price is $60. Are they very uncommon as a complete set like this (sans instructions)?

The one I've already got I paid $50 shipped. That razor is nearly perfect except for an 1/8" dot of lacquer thinning on the corner of one door. The case has one little tear spot on the inside otherwise it is pretty nice as well.

The one I'm looking at seems to have no plate loss or lacquer issues that I can tell. I might be able to go actually check it out the first part of May, but I take the chance of it selling. Although I've been told it's been sitting there for a while now. This is probably what I'll do as I have another razor I'm supposed to go look at tomorrow.

That seems pretty reasonable. If its from a shop, I would obviously try to get it for less, but not entirely out of line

As a side note, I refuse to pay market price from antique stores. I don't need to get in my car, drive around, and waste time trying to spot something in a pile of junk to pay market price. I'd rather sit at home and have it delivered instead

I don't think 40's Aristocrats came with creme dispensers because they all had gold blade boxes, didn't they? I could be wrong on that though.

The early 40's had metal tins. The late 40's had the cream dispensers

I agree and do the same mostly. I do go to the junk shops about one a month just for the enjoyment of maybe finding something cool.

This one is in a location where I will be traveling in May, so no loss really for me. Better for me to wait as I've got my monthly budget earmarked already if the razor I'm looking at tomorrow is as nice as I hope it will be.

Here's the one I've already got. Finding a cream colored blade case seems to be a losing game though.
