I haven't posted any scores for a little while but I've got some great straights in the last few weeks so I thought I'd put a few pictures up of them.

First is a 11/16 Le Jaguar. I was drawn to this one as it's one of the few I've seen with the inlayed scales in good condition.

An A Vedel 13/16 in fantastic condition with a worked spine.

A 6/8 vintage LeGrelot with a worked spine. The original scales were in poor condition so I put the blade in a great set of bone scales I had in my spare parts bin.

A 15/16 Palmier 14. I'm guessing that this is a Spanish made blade for the French market.

A Morris Red Imp 11/16. I've had a few Red Imps and haven't been that impressed with them. This is the first Morris and it's a wedge so I'm expecting good shaving from it.

An F.W. Engels Leader. 11/16. I love the detail they put into the bolsters on the scales.

A 13/16 Hoffritz with most of the gold wash still intact.

An Eric Anton Berg 6/8 shoulderless. A beautiful Swedish blade.

An finally a 15/16 Rudolf Schmidt from Solingen.

None of them are shave ready so I've got a lot of honing to do over the Easter break.

Wade & Butcher 1' Celebrated Full Hollow
Wade & Butcher 1' Smiling Barber (in the middle of a restore)
James Barlow & Sons 7/8 Wedge (also mid restore) - blade reads "I'm Number 1"
Frank Schnell W.B. Speed Razor 7/8 Full Hollow- purported to also be a W&B

Mama Bear Awakenings Soap, EJ89L, and a Choice 10 pack sample from West Coast Shaving.

Can't wait to use the EJ89L for the first time. I think when I do, I won't use the awakenings though. It's a little too agressive for a first DE shave.
Look out honey 'cause I'm usin' technology. Ain't got time to make no apologies.

???? There are now aggressive soaps too? I think you'll end up cutting yourself with the razor, not the soap. Bizarre.

Thumbs up My Twin (literally) Henckels/Friodur

I had several acquisitions this month, but one (or actually two stand out )

I snatched the Henckels #19 (in Green Lime G10) from Max' website and shortly after sent him my Friodur #17 for rescale. Max and I decided that Hunter Orange clothing would look great for this one and what's more, the "Twins" would match.

Here's what my "Twin" Maxterpieces look like . They are truly made for one another (and match beautifully with their eccentric & colorful G10 ). THANK YOU MAX !!!! You are a true straight razor poet. A master artist.

    Cheers,
    Robert

Those are beautiful...wow...I like those a lot.

Good on ya, Max! (whoever that is)

I just scored a Georgetown Pottery Ambrose Brush Scuttle v2 (more roundish) here's a thumbnail (click to embiggenize)

I also received a new latigo strop from B&B Member AMCardon, very nicely constructed, 2.5" wide, 20" (or so) long, d-rings, heavy stiff felt secondary. (no pic, sorry)

A vintage shaving cream, "Gillette Lima-Limão", made in Portugal, from the end 70's or early 80's.

Next week is my birthday. Rather selfishly, I acquired this Somerset PJ2 from a member on another site.

I can hardly wait for tomorrow morning's shave!

Default Instant collection of SE razors...and some other stuff

I received all of this in the mail today in a single package from another generous member here on B&B. Thanks, barkerbarber!

Too bad the Postal Service destroyed the bakelite Gem Micromatic box with their barbaric shipping practices!

Oh, and I also picked up an 8 oz bottle of Headblade Headslick mentholated shave cream at Walgreens. They had it on sale for only $6.99!

Here's what I found today. Haven't cleaned either yet. The stand and gear have never been used it appears. The blue lady looks mint, unfortunately the case was broken on the tabs, but for $6 I'm not complaining.

Thiers-Issard, that great manufacturer of straight razors got into the DE business for a short period of time. Like Puma and others, they wanted to take advantage of the fascination and market for the "new" safety razor business opportunities.

This is the only one I've ever seen. Decent weight and relatively aggressive. Problem is the nickel plating was done very thinly so it's worn off in a variety of areas on the handle & head.

But this is one classy razor.

Anyone else have one of these TIs? Are there a variety of models?

Those are some beautiful razors! Really adds to this page and the possibilities for the designers of new gear.

The stand has 1985 Shulton stamped on the bottom. I thought it was kind of kitschy, but cool at the same time.
