My mother in law dropped these off to me yesterday morning. She said she was going through some old stuff. Both Gillettes made in Canada and the top one has '1932' stamped on the underside. Not really sure of the models but they are worn but nice.

10x2.4" Natural combo Coti. La Nouveau I suspect (has blue veins in the coti layer, iirc that's the layer Bart says typically shows these).
Vintage Kent B26 Root Beer Barrel. Small superficial crack in handle. Knot appears unused. Feels a lot like current simpsons best (dry). I'll have to wait and see what it's like in use tonight.
Edit: Brush is decently dense. About on par with Berkeley or Rooney 3/1 Super. Hair has similar backbone to those brushes as well, slightly less than the Berkeley, about equal to the 3/1 Super. As for feel, definitely not like my other vintage kent pure (which is as soft as most supers). This feels like I'd expect a decent modern pure to feel. Soft but very scritchy, scritchier even than my Rooney Finest. Shed 3 or 4 hairs during wash and first use and bloomed similarly to a Rooney 3/1 (more bloom than a berkeley).

I figured my last post in this thread would be my last one for the month, but, I couldn't resist these:
Rise brushless shave gel and Monkey Brains pomade....the gel intrigued me, I might give it a try with one of my milder razors. I can't imagine it protecting as good as any of my other shave soaps, but hey, for $1, what am I really out? Can't even buy a soda for that! The pomade, well, I laughed at the name, so I couldn't resist, and, at $1.59, again, if nothing else, it'll look neat next to the unused puck of Williams mug soap!
While not shave related, how cool is this:

Two awesome deliveries in the last two days!
First, a very nice LPB Coticule, thanks to a great trade with member Bluemantra.
And today I got two kamisori, thanks to an AMAZINGLY generous PIF from our fellow member Basil. Thanks mate!
I'm a very happy camper.
It cranks over and tries to start, but has been sitting a while. I'm hoping a slug of good gas in the tank and a quick prime down the carb will get it going. Everything seems to work on it, and parts are pretty cheap, so I'm willing fiddle with it. This is going to be my "lets go have fun" car.![]()

Nothing exciting, but I picked up some staple shaving gear this month:
TOBS Avocado, Feathers, Astras, and a nice shaving mug.

Where there is a will, there is a way!
It needs a little clutch work (i'm no stranger to that, though), and the interior is in the condition you'd expect for a well used 25+ year old car. Since I've never worked on a rotary before, I thought this may be a good place to start.

Last week I found a Bostonian in box with no bent teeth on the comb for $30. I thought that was a good deal, but the antiques store said they don't ever get razors in so they didn't know anything about it. I left my number with them and told them to call me if they ever get anything else interesting.
I just got a call that they had "2 more of those kinds of razors you like" in an estate sale they were handling. For $10 I got a notched 1948-1950 era Super Speed and a 1946-1950 Ball End Tech. Here is a crappy cell phone picture but I dated both of these using the Shave Wiki and B&B (thanks to all of those who have contributed to that)!
Keep in mind these haven't seen scrubbing bubbles or polish yet
Feel free to correct me if I have wrongly identified either of these. I disassembled the Ball Tech to show of the base plate geometry like in the bottom pictures here.

I got a Number 1 and Number 7 Old Spice Shaving Mugs this week and paid more on shipping than I did for the Mugs. I love E-bay some days. I will try to get some pics later!

I appreciate it. I only recently began looking for the vintage models but living in an older town with lots of shops coupled with a lack of demand in the area has left me in a good position (for now). If/when I start getting duplicates or razors that just don't do it for me I'd like to start PIF'ing the less expensive ones. I have a lot of fun just cleaning up the old razors and making them shine again...maybe I'm weird. I'd rather spread the wealth rather than letting them get junk piled in an antiques store.
I love getting the vintage ones myself. I look at the condition, but if they are too nice, that takes some of the fun out of it. I love cleaning them up and polishing them. A good product I've found to shine them up is Simichrome metal polish, it's easy to wirk with, and leaves a great shine to them. I hit a jackpot earlier this month and bought 6 razors for $2 each. They looked nasty, but are cleaning up nicely. I haven't PIF'ed any here, but I've given a few to co-workers. The best part of it, I find, is that they are a usable item. Not many people can say they shave with a razor that is older than they are!
