What's new

Schick type E

It could be helpful...like organizing group buys and such..Although I just did one....but as soon as I recoup my finances...I need enough injectors to last the rest my life, so maybe I should have a physical and get my Doc. to tell me how many injectors are enough for my stockpile...:)

I don't know, I belonged to several and they're all gone now. I forgot about them most of the time, and apparently so did a lot of others.

Not to intrude upon you guys, but I overheard you talking about injectors! Mark me down as one who loves them too. I'm on this injector kick now for 6 months. Can't put them down. I even bought one of those cheap jobs on ebarbershop.com & it shave ME well, believe it or not. I have quite a few e's f's g's, not as versed on them as I am on DE's. My favorite so far is not the Schick but the Gillette's version injector. It's fairly mild, that's why I like it. It will take twin injector blades also. I prefer the single's. I also picked up this jewel last week. The last Schick manufactered. The "O" type. If you saw it on the bay, yes it was me who bought it. I really want to open up the package and try it out. I am very tempted. :thumbup1:

DClassic what do you mean intrusion ? Anyone who digs injectors is in the right place on this thread...And you brought that great picture of an excellent razor aswell. I'm with you...I'm on a Schick binge..I can't seem to put my I2 down....I've got an injector on my back....:)

Hey Slivovitch got an O Type and absolutly loved it...and he said those Schick Injector II blades that came with it were the Cats Meow...If it was me I would have to open it and go for it...send Slivovitch a PM and ask him about it...I remember he was alternating each day between an A type and an O type...the 1st and last types and he thought both were great...

You know, it looks like we already have a social group here...I'm coming here every couple days and hangin' with you injector cats and having alot of fun...We don't need an official club, we can just kind of make this thread an injector hang...:) Although it would be cool to have an injector and SE corner for the SOTD, because the photos of the shave kits would be killin'

Thanks Be-Bop. I will ask him about it. I don't want to ruin it because it's NIB, however I did pay a premium for it and at a crossroad about wanting to use it. I also firmly recommend a Gillette Injector. They have several on the bay now. My opinion is, they are a magnificent shaver. I'm truly in love with it. It's almost like a N-type Schick with that head angle. I think I'll come back and hangout right here with my fellow injectors!

Well, just to spice things up here's some more razor porn. My cased I1 and I2, both with original blade dispensers and the instructions for the I2. Used the I1 this morning.

Hey thanks Tom...Something about the I Types makes my heart skip a beat...Probably because thats the 1st razor I ever really looked at when I was a kid....Or maybe its just because they are so dang good looking...And I've never gotten a better shave...Man I've never seen the instructions for an I2...thats very hip...You have to take a closer shot of the directions...I'd love to read them...:)

And DClassic I hear you about paying a premium...and you are already in love with the Gillette...you've got some serious thinking to do...I can dig it...But you've got all the time in the world...you don't have to make up your mind right away...:)

Man, I need to get some injector blades and try my injector out. It's one of the later ones with the adjustment dial.

I'm pretty sure it was an I2 I learned to shave with in 1971. I know it was an injector, and I remember it having a black handle, but I don't clearly remember it having the lever so it could've been a J2 or an L1. That was a long time ago...

Hiya,

I'd just like to quickly mention something about injectors. Over the years I've used a lot of these things and still have an M type in my rotation. Learned on a G type, which about kilt me. Little bloodsucking vampires razors is what they are.

Anyway, no matter what anyone says, you gotta bear down with these things if you don't want the blade to chatter along your face (a bad thing). Injectors weigh almost nothing, and that head just doesn't have the weight to properly let the blade do all the work. The E and G types are especially lightweight.

From what I've found, it's just not possible to use an injector like a DE when it comes to pressure (or the lack of it).

Hi there,

Normally I'm not a fan of using anything NOS like that razor is. Usually there's another non minty model around that will shave the same as the unused one in the package.

Heh, this is a little different case though, seeing as how those types rarely are for sale in any condition. In this situation, I think you need to give that thing a drive. One reason for that is I've used a somewhat similar non Schick (but not as good model) in the past, and it was still a nice shave. The weight and balance was excellent, and that handle has the best feel of any injector I can think of. Heh, it just didn't shave all that close. From what I've heard, the real deal like you have is supposed to be an excellent performer.

Yep, do yourself a favor and sample a rare piece of shaving history,

Martin

I started out wet shaving with a Schick L type. I thought it was great coming from a Mach 3. I now find it a bit mild and prefer my heavier DE razors, but I would love to get myself a I2 to try out. I gave my girlfriend a NOS Lady Eversharp and she has has been very happy with it.

My Dad Bought an I2 when they first made the scene in '55 along with a H type fashion razor for Mom...She never dug hers, but Dad loved the Eversharp. He'd been using injectors all his shaving life. That was the object of my fascination when I was like 4. And most boys are fascinated by Dad's razor but man that one had the Gold head and the Hydro-Magic lever that when you threw it everything moved on the head, and wow...what kid in the '50's wouldn't be fascinated with it ? When my Dad caught me holding it and diggin' it, he knew the gravity of the situation. He took the blade out, showed me how it worked. Let me play with it for a minute. Then gave me a toy DE razor with a card-board blade (wish I still had that). Lathered me up and let me shave beside him from time to time.
Jump 11 or 12 years later when it was time for me to start shaving...Late 60's I picked up a new Super-Speed, and was excited about joining the shaving community. Dad checked out my new aquisition, he shook it and it rattled like a maraca...He wished me luck and said he would have a hard time putting a razor blade in anything that rattled like that and then putting it on his face and laughed. This kind-of took the wind out of my sails for a second. And then he asked me if I wanted that I2 of his...It was packed away and looked like new...I said WOULD I !! And I learned on that and shaved with it for many years til it literally fell a part. That was in the early 80's. Didn't see another one til a friend of mine on another forum gave me one this pass Xmas. Couldn't believe it...And it looks like new and shaves like crazy...I can't put it down...And its like rebonding with my Pop whenever I see or use it...A razor can be like a time-machine...Great hobby we have here...

Be-bop thanks, that was one heart felt story! I only wish are kids were like us, but that's another story. I cringe when I think about all the things I gave my 33 year old over the years, but to them no sentimental value like what we share. I picked up a razor from an older guy (80's) that he tried to give to his sons, but they didn't want it. It was HIS dad's razor. This guy was hurt and had a heavy heart in the whole transaction, and I assured him that it was an honor for me to accept it from him and That I would cherish it like it was from my DAD. That put him at ease. And I can say it is THE foundation piece of my collection.
Martin , I contacted this buying service in Japan called white rabbit express, it's a hubby/wife team that buy merchandize in Japan, then ship it to America. I understand HE"S American. They are still looking for a Schick O injector for me. Last e-mail they advised me that the Schick O injector was no longer sold in Japan. They could not find one anywhere. Any other schick razor they could find, but not the Injector O. I still have a request in to them if they do find one somewhere. But with the radiation and all that has surfaced, I doubt if customs would let anything in. They might. So, I'm thinking this O is that much more valuable now with all that has transpired. So, as of now, I won't open it. It's very tempting to open it though, very tempting!

Great story, thanks.

My Father always shaved with a Schick J-1. I own it now. I remember him taking the blade out and letting me "shave" with it when I was about five or so, that must have been about 1966 or so. I learned on a Schick L-1. My Grandfather always shaved with a straight. It is sitting in my safe as we speak, in the box with a "pocket hone" and strop. I remember him shaving with that straight in the 60's and 70's and my Father hacked up his face with it when he was about five or six in 1932 or 1933. My Grandfather only owned one razor and now it is a cherished heirloom.

I also have a "Golden 500". What a great razor it is!
