i got a few olive oil soaps, one i put in the microwave for about 45 seconds on high and i cut it in half pretty easily, no crumbles. cut just like butter. i tried to microwave an aleppo soap, but wasn't able to cut it in hald. any ideas? gotta be careful when microwaving soaps because a lot of foams turns up.

I wonder if a wire would do it?
I know gourmet shops use piano wire to slice thick, dense cheeses, why not soap?

A good piece of quality string works just fine.
You do get a little extra soap (saw) dust, but it does the job.
No need to heat the soap, just wrap it around a few fingers on both hands and go at it.

Search "soap wire cutter" on Google images, and you will see what we soapers use. They work very well, but the better ones are too expensive for just cutting a bar here and there.

I have have used both a bread knife and a small Ryobi band saw I have in the garage/shop. Both worked fine. I believe all tools should be multitasking.
