Adding Aloe to Witch Hazel

Hey everyone,

I have been using witch hazel for a couple of weeks now, and I'm feeling like it dries my skin out. Even if I apply moisturizing after shave balm, once the balm "wears off" I'm left with pain every time I move my face because of the dryness..

I bought my WS at the dollar store. 1 buck for what seems like half a year's worth.

To be a little more thrifty (vs. pouring my current WS supply down the drain and spending $$$ on a "medicated" aloe WS (ie. Thayers)), is it possible to buy just straight up aloe vera in a bottle, and add it to the pure WS?

If so, does anyone know how much to add (ex. 2 parts WS 1 part AV)? Hopefully this proves to be a cost-effective solution.

Try adding glycerin instead of aloe. I tried aloe before and it didn't work as well.

Can't speak for the aloe, but I do mix my WH with balms and it works out well.

I made some bay rum type AS using a base of witch hazel and aloe. About 1tbsp of aloe gel to 400ml witch hazel seems to do the trick for me, it moisturises just enough but I don't have particularly dry skin. I'd start with about that amount and add more if you need it
