Can anyone tell me about the Ender's Speed Razor? What kind of blades does it take? Thanks!

Nice score. That Henckels should clean up beautiful. The Enders uses proprietary blades that are no longer available. You'll like the two SE Gems too. The Kampfe should take a modern SE blade.

You made an excellent score. An instant razor collection at a crazy price.

I hope so. I once had a single edge, but sold it without trying it since the blades are pricier than DE, from what I've seen. Lately, I've been wanting to try one. I had also been wanting those razors with the mini straight razor blades that can be honed ever since I saw one.

You can send the blades out for honing for a small fee, starting at $19 each. Then you'll know you are starting with a known good blade. Get a cheap table top strop and you'll be in business.

I shaved with a 1899 Kampfe Star using wedge blades today. It was pretty cool.

They shine up nicely. Here is my Henckels. Just got it today.

Actually, I just recently bought a Norton 4k/8k, so I'll probably practice on one of my cheaper straights and then probably hone the blades for the ones when I feel I'm ready. BTW, that razor you have is a beauty. How can you tell the date on those razors?

That's a good question. I wish I knew. I'm guessing mine dates to 1930s. Your is older, maybe 1910s or 20s

What about the 1899 Kampfe? Do those have date codes? Thanks!

No they don't. You have to go by patent dates. Even that is confusing. My razor was patented in the US years after it was patented in Germany. And then they were sold for Xn years after that.

Lucky Gillette collectors, they have great dating info.

BTW, your Henckel should take a modern SE blade. I loaded a Gem SE blade in mine and it will be in rotation tomorrow.

the Enders was made in 1940 by Durham duplex Razor Co., Connecticutt, it uses the Enders type blade. In 1941 The Speed shaver became the Speed razor when the compnies Enders and Duplex combined.

Not necessarily - I get three or four more shaves per blade with SE than I do with any DE. 5 or 6 shaves with a $.50 blade vs 2 good shaves tops with a $.20 DE blade yields about the same cost per shave.

I have been getting ten packs of blades from CVS pharmacy. I paid $3.49 and 3.99. I am getting twice as many shaves per SE compared to my DE blades.

I have a question about the Kampfe and the Henkels. Along with the razor and blade comes a handle with a place for the blade to go. Is that so you can also use it as a straight razor or is it to hold the blade while honing? Sorry for the stupid question. Thanks!

That's to hold it while stropping the blade

By the way, in all seriousness, very good haul.
