Thread: shower shave

    Default shower shave

i have a small mirror in my shower, and the other day i decided to give it a try. i grabbed my merkur 39c, an arko shave stick and went to work. the end result was that it took me a few minutes to get a very nice shave in the shower, rather than a regimented routine of roughly 12 minutes. i went brushless as well, using only stubble friction and my hand to generate a decent lather. it was nowhere near as nice as using a brush, but i think one can be incorporated into the routine without losing any time. i am not much of a morning person so whatever saves a few minutes here and there becomes the way. just wondering if anyone else shaves in the shower as the norm during workday mornings, and any other tips you might have.

used to shave in the shower exclusively with cartridges. I just used body wash or shampoo to lather and had a fog free mirror. I still use that to hit the back of my neck now and then but i'm kinda worried about taking a heavy metal razor into the shower that i could drop on my toe. plus a 3 pass shave takes 15 minutes and would waste a ton of water...I am also NOT a morning person so I shower and shave at night so I can take my time and get every minute of sleep possible in the morning.
maybe get a cheap vdh boar brush and keep it in the shower. the handle is plastic and if it goes bad you're out $9 or whatever they cost. I used to keep mine on a shelf in a mug in the shower and never had any problems.

I can do either but I prefer to shave after a shower, not least because I see it as a waste of water.

I shaved in the shower when I used cartridges and had a bigger shower. Still used soap and brush. I've since moved, and have a smaller shower stall. Not so practical, plus I'm reluctant to take my str8 into the shower.

I used to shave exclusively in the shower until I started seeing how high the water bills were getting. Now I only shower shave if I am in a real hurry.

+1. Water is a very precious thing here, and shower shaving would waste many liters of water.
