What hooked you? What, in the beginning, ultimately led you to this wet shaving addiction, with RAD and all?

For me? I started shaving with a safety razor a little over five years ago to help with ingrown hairs. I liked it. It turned shaving from something I hated to something I didn't mind. Not an addiction at that point.
I had one razor for five years. I used Merkur blades that came with my razor for a cople of months. I used Wal Mart Personnas for the remainder of five years until my Wal Mart was constantly out of blades.
I searched Google to see if there was anywhere to buy DE razor blades. My first hit was a sample pack from an Ebay seller. What, there are that many different blades? I was hooked! I placed two orders that day for over a hundred blades. One of my next searches led me to B&B. Wow! A whole new world. I was reeled in after I learned there were so many options of razors and blades not to mention all the other products.
In a little over a month I went from one razor to fifteen and several hundred blades.
    End of story...

I'm attracted to old ways of doing things. I like the idea of preserving dying traditions. I enjoy the zen of performing rituals which do not yield instant results. I believe that "technological advancements" are in some cases a lie, and that sometimes a thing is perfect in its most simple form.

my weak point was remembering warm lather barber shop shaves. Now I have one every day, and would buy all the soap in the world- if I had the money.

I'm a younger guy, but sometimes feel that just because something is "new" or "modern" doesn't necessarily mean that it's better.

After 15 years of frustration and pain of using carts and goop I decided it was time to change. I by accident found a Mantic59 video on YouTube one day and that is what started me on my journey. What is keeping me so addicted to this fine art is the fact I get to treat myself each and every morning to something wonderful just for me.

In this day and age of "I don't have time" excuses it really lets you stop the world around you and focus on yourself. A moment where you don't have to worry or care about the troubles of life. For me it will be something I do until I leave this world. Each morning to be able to make soft lather and spread it onto my face, to hear the stubble cut along the edge of my blade, to treat myself to smells of heaven. What more can I man ask for? It's not only a treat of doing something for yourself, but the satisfaction of an accomplishment as well.

To all the B&Ber's, may each shave leave you with the same satisfaction!

LOL - this site was my gateway to various ADs.

Previously I had wetshaved for 20+ years with one DE, one brush, one blade and Williams.

I found this site after a 10 year absence from wetshaving and after only a couple of months I have 3 razors, 4 brushes, half a dozen or so soaps and countless blades.
Ever notice that the only dwarf that shaved was named Dopey?

Couldn't have said it any better. I have been using an electric for years & have not been satisfied with the quality of the shave, so, here I am!

When I got my first serious job where the requirement was to be clean shaven each day. The facial pain and cost of carts made me think that there has to be a better way.. The rest is history

Also a big +1 After I found this site my addiction to traditional DE shaving sky rocketed. I bought myself an old Gilette SuperSpeed and the rest is history....
