I recommend one of the gel/crystal tubes you can get at most tobacco shops. They are about the size of a short slim corona, taking up the space of 1 cigar. I used them almost exclusively in my 15? humidors until I got a large end table humidor 10 cubic feet. They worked perfectly and most can be used with tap water, but I always preferred distilled to be safe. I use an electronic humidifier now.
Just make sure the water is completely absorbed into the crystals and shake out any excess water.
I forgot they have the same crystal in small puck form made to attach to the lid of a humi.
Just what I was going to suggest. The same set up is also available in a small jar configuration. You might need more than one of the "corona" shaped ones depending on the capacity of your humi.
