    Default First DE shave

My first ever DE shave - with a Gillette Super Speed black tip and Dorco blades.

Let's just say I got better as I went along. First pass drew blood in a couple of places, but my second, with far less pressure, did not. I've been wet shaving with a cartridge system for the best part of 25 years, so I need to learn a lighter touch, and to listen to what's going on.

Thank you all for your encouragement!

Congratulations! Things will get better. IMO you made good equipment choices. While some people dis' the Dorco 300's, I find them to be a decent, mild, forgiving blade. I would stick with your set-up until things consistently go well.
    Best,
    Mike

Been looking for one of these. How do these shave with modern blades?

I put it on par with the Gem open comb micromatic. Aggressive, but I like them that way.

Thanks. I love the shave of the open comb MM, so this validates my RAD for this.

    Thanks for your encouragement.

Yes, I wanted to start with a mild razor and blade combo. Unskilled as I am, I still got an impressive shave. And it's only going to get better!

Got a pack of Asco Blades as a sampler. Paired it with my Gillette Red Tip. I had 2 days growth on my face and it took it right off with no pulling or tugging. Good combo for me.

Cobra Classic with Feather professional. Shave #5. Starting to feel less sharp...might be my skin after the first week of shaving with this combo exclusively. I'll try again with a day or two of growth and see how it's feeling. I want to know how many shaves I can reliably get out of one of these blades.

    Quite enamored of this razor.

Today was a Gillette Super adjustable with a bolzano......using suprisingly good Body shop macca root for a formidable shave.
Honey Badger don't care, it just takes what it wants.....
